New Transformers cartoon TV series!

My prayers have been answered (x 2). Two new comic series and a new cartoon series. It is set in the continuity shortly after the G1 series.

From Wizard Magazine:

"Coinciding with the release of the ongoing comic series, this fall will also see the debut of the all-new "Armada" animated series. The art style for Armada represents a bit of a depature from the heavy Anime of recent "Robots in Disguise" and computer-generated imagery "Beast Wars" TV shows. Instead, the new series look is more reminiscent of the Japanese/American hybrid style of the original Transformers cartoon from the mid '80's. "

Here's a sample of the comic book series (G1, not Armada):

This sounds cool.

But please oh please don't mess with things. Make Optimus turn into a semi, and Grimlock turn into a T-rex, and Jazz turn into a Porsche. No more generic "Dinobot" or "Optimus now turns into a fire truck" crap. I don't see why they feel the need to do stuff like this. The children of the 80s want to see it the way it was originally done, no need to change it.

great news! but i'm bummed--in that first pic, i can't figure out who the large (well, a little smaller than omega supreme) white robot behind optimus is. is it magnus (prolly not b/c wrong color) or superion?

Well, this is welcome news. After RiD was such a disappointment
(hurry prime... pikachu needs our help)

If the comics looks that good i might pick them up.

My ongoing theory as to why this new generation of kids is so messed up is because they didn't have transformers or GI Joe... They had powerrangers and .. well powerrangers. Give me He-man over that crap any day.

In fact i'm going to watch the Transformers movie on DVD right now woohoo.

I had high hopes for this new Transformers series, but sadly I think now that it is going to suck -- check out the pics of the upcoming Armada toys depicting the characters in the show

Well, we're getting closer to our beloved original stuff with these toys, but not all the way there.

"the trailer automatically transforms into a Minicon base when you transform the cab to robot by sending out a radio signal"

Oh for the love of all that's HOLY! What ARE thos things? Cause they sure don't look like Transformers.

My GOD! Just box up the originals, send them to Toys R Us and I PROMISE you will make buckets of money on them. I'll buy them, most of you would buy them, kids will buy them. WHAT'S THE PROBLEM?!?!?!

I'm in the wrong industry...

Well lets face it, megatron will never be a silver looking gun anymore. So a tank or a ray gun (ala galvatron) are the best to hope for...

Optimus looks like G2 optimus (the all plastic one) ... I think this is about as close as we can get to the old school days.

Now if they'll jsut please please please leave out anything regarding pokemon, i think we'll have a winner.

The whole "minicon" thing has been done before, back in G2, the second optimus had one i know (only g2 i have if i'm not mistaken)... Some of the designs look a little lame.. Like the motorcycle guy... Vertically he's a robot that looks like a motorcyle... and horizontally he's a motorcyle that looks like a robot.... But the classic one's are still good, Prime, starscream, etc, etc ...

Takara are re-issuing the originals again. So far I've only bought Starscream ($40), but they also have Megatron (gun), Optimus, and many others -- however, mostly they are only available in Japan or those retailers in the US who have imported them -- and they're not cheap. I think Megatron and Optimus cost $100 each.
here's a link to some toys for sale, many new classic G1 stuff.

Speaking of Transformers...who is man (or woman) enough to admit they cried while watching the Transformers movie when they were young (and this goes out to people who actually saw it in the theater)? I knew what was going to happen in the movie before I saw it on opening day and I still cried.

So many characters perished in that movie...it really is quite sad. My favorite Autobot and Decepticon were killed in that movie .

Oh please, the Power Rangers would kick the Transformers' asses any day of the week.

Not that I'm not happy with this news, but please, Power Rangers has lasted what, 10 years now (WITHOUT taking huge breaks like our robotic friends)? Don't knock a success.

The problem is that kids would probably not buy them. The only ones who would buy them would be a few hundred fanboys that haven't exactly grown up yet.

Although, there was a big break in the cartoon shows, I think the was really one year since the toys started that a transformer wasn't produced. I think it was between Machine wars and Beast wars.

those pictures look amazing! Plain and simple if its like it looks like, I will cry. I hated beast wars, and I even hate the new form they are in (why is optimus a fire truck?) they still look like freak'n robotic bugs. Now those pictures are true to the name. this looks totally bitchin

So they'll be going right next to your Power Ranger dolls?

I think if they marketed them well, and did commercials, kids WOULD buy them. Let's face it, they are pretty neat toys. Fairly sturdy, lots of variations and cool weapons. It would have to be a full-blown deal, and not just a release of 5 or 6 "main" robots.

I really hope they make a new one like the original
the one that started this past fall sucks, and I saw a toy today from it. Grimlock is a backhoe type thing, like the one constructicon
