Friends 2/7 [Spoiler]

I thought this episode was pretty good. A lot of stuff happened that furthered the show's plot and some funny nonsense in the middle too. I'm surprised Mona didn't dump Ross earlier too, after all the crap he did to her. Monica looked very hardcore in that red dress, but I wish she'd have chosen the black . Anyway, I wonder if Ross is gonna punch Joey next week. I think Joey needs it, since he's beginning to whine and moan a lot like Ross.

Urgh they would have to end the episode that way when the Olympics pre-empt the Show next week.

Monica looked great in the red dress but she could have done more with her hairdo and makeup. Of course the same can be said aboiut Chandler. Oh wait there's already another thread on that subject

I wasn't to keen on the birthing story-line, I know it ties in.

I liked how Joey made the dog sad

So are there 2 weeks or 1 week pre-empted by Olympics?

I've been slacking on watching Friends lately but my wife taped it last night and I popped it on when I got home.

It is nice to have the old Monica back. The opening with Monica & Ross making that fashion choice was great.

My wife thought it was a pretty pointless show since it stopped so suddenly. I just thought it was a nice set up and I certainly have a renewed interest in the show.

I probably should have started reading these threads earlier...

...however, for years I've been hoping that Rachel and Ross would get back together again. I prefer his character much better when he's dating her, he doesn't seem so whiney and hopeless and ... Ross. However, he's had his shot, more than once, and not being able to get over the "we were on a break" thing has worn thin with me.

I like what they've done with Joey's character this season, and his character and Rachel's character seem much more in tune with each other. I'm kinda hoping it'll end up being Joey and Rachel.

What do any of these women see in Ross? I don't get it.

First off, it would not be a punch but some kind of unagi "Kara-tay" if he were so bold. Secondly it is JOEY, and Ross is a whimp. The best Ross'll get to do is verbally abuse him and make Joey feel even WORSE than he already does. I think the mutual sympathy route will have to happen or else all the other storylines would fall apart (much like when Ross was told by Emily that he could not hang out with Rachel - which lasted what? an episode? or when Joey was mad at Chandler and made him stay in that box).

It is funny that you say Joey is starting to whine like Ross - is this the effect Rachel has on all men in her life? Maybe its the shampoo - Papaya Extract?

I have to agree with you all - why would ANYONE want to date Ross (in his current incarnation), not to mention live with or MARRY him?!?!

I agree....Ross has become more of a whiner and just not very smart. This guy is supposed to be a College Professor and he is just so dumb now. The last 2 seasons have been murder on his character. Joey has really stole the show for the last 2 seasons in my opinion.

Agreed. I used to love Ross, but for 2 years he's just a whiner, and it's wearing thin. If Schwimmer is changing it on his own, he needs to stop. If the writers are trying to make him look like a tool, they're succeeding.

Joey's character is great this year. Chandler is pretty good too. The girls could all use some help.

I've actually liked Ross better this season. I think he's matured quite a bit (despite his problems in the Mona dept.) My favorite proof of this is when Phoebe got all pissed off because Ross and Rachel don't fight like they used too.

Phoebe: "We were on a break. No we weren't! What happened to you guys?"

Personally, I thought last night's episode was kinda lame overall...although I really liked the ending. I was like "DOH!, it can't be over now!!! Aarrggh."

I don't know why you guys were all down on Monica. I've always thought she was a hottie...except for the fat suit.

I thought the funniest part of the episode was when Chandler came home with the flowers and saw the "Candy & Cookie" videotape and he started talking to himself thinking that Monica had bought him a porno for Valentines. Chandler made some funny faces watching the video.

"WORST PORN EVER! WORST PORN EVER!"

I think all the Friends ladies are looking better, they seem to have shed that anorexic look that swept through the female cast members last season. I can no longer see Monica's collarbone!

My friends and I were just talking this morning about how we are really enjoying Ross, David Schwimmer's timing is excellent in those scenes where he tries to play one person against the other like Mona and Rachael last night.

Did anyone else notice Courtney lose it when Jennifer said "What, does her ass explode?". I wonder how many takes that took.

I was in the grocery store and saw Jennifer Aniston on the cover of the Star magazine.

The headline was like, "Jennifer Aniston dies giving birth in shocking ending to Friends series."

I thought that was kind of funny. They make up some terrible stuff, but I thought that was a really original one. It sure would be one way to end the show with a bang!

By the way, Jennifer did look hot on the cover.

PS- I'm going to miss Mona. I really liked that actress and if Joey does land Rachel, I would have been happy if Ross got Mona.

Yikes, that would be a rough way to end the series!

i don't know about everyone else but the reason that i was down on monica was not because of apperance but because about 2 seasons ago they just seemed to give her a total personality transfusion. she had been fairly grounded and intelligent but yet neurotic. then they changed her to just annoying without a trace of any of the previous characteristics.

I agree. I thought his complaining about Mark was annoying and the whole "we were on a break" excuse bugs me. But the plot line with him dating his student was a real turning point for me, I lost pretty much all the respect I had for character at that point.

I really hope Rachel does end up with Joey, I think they go really well together.

I'm with you, Hotaru. Hey, that rhymed! Anyway - I used to like Ross, but for the past few seasons his character has been annoying, whiny, and overall a jacka$$. Before he was with Rachel he was an endearing geek, then the whole "we were on a break" horrific storyline and he's pretty much remained in the gutter ever since. He didn't deserve Mona, and he doesn't deserve Rachel. Joey is a MUCH better fit, and I love the growth his character is experiencing (maybe the last we'll see of womanizer Joey, which would be a great thing imo).

And I also agree that Monica used to be far more balanced of a character (but then so were Ross and Phoebe - sometimes Phoebe just pi$$es me off when she's so unconcerned for other's feelings/belongings...but I digress). I'm guessing after 9 years the writers are pretty much out of new interesting ideas, so they figured making each character a caricature of their former selves would help make it funnier. They were wrong - only when the characters give us glimpses of the people they used to be are they truly endearing and funny.
