Who Likes Black Comedians?
Have ya seen the promo for the comedy central Heroes of Black Comedy?
With the choices they made, who do you think they forgot?
I think Will Smith and Bill Cosby are obvious omissions.
Who else?

Unfortunately, unless i'm missing something, Bill Cosby doesn't really fit in with that crowd. Everything i've ever heard of his has always been decent and good-natured, like crazy harold, chickenheart, buck-buck, etc.
I can't see him appealing to the same audience as Russel Simmons, Chris Rock, or the Kings.

I also thought of a couple more...

Chris Rock is more than a little annoying.
There is one black standup - George something I think. Can't remember his name offhand, but he appeared on a comic's version of The Weakest Link a while back.
The man is hilarious in a political pundit Eddie Izzard kind of way.
And black heroes of comedy should have Richard Pryor, Bill Cosby, and Redd Foxx without a doubt.

I wouldn't put Will Smith in the category of COMEDIAN... he's never done stand up.
However, BILL COSBY is one of my top choices. Bill Cosby: Himself is one of the greatest comedy routines ever.

Was it George Wallace? Robin Harris was one my favorites. Too bad he died right when his career was taking off. But Redd Foxx is the grand father of them all. He was the first comedian period black or otherwise to work "blue".

Funny how folks forget ol' Redd.

Oh, and I agree - comedy begins and ends with Richard Pryor.
