The actress who played her is Kathryn Erbe. She was in Stir of Echoes with Kevin Bacon. She's also married to Terry Kinney, who plays McManus.

That's it! I could just picture that scene...I'll have to look a little more closely at the opening credits (which is not always easy). And I didn't know about her being married to Terry Kinney. Thanks for the info. Looking forward to the first season box set....
