Glory Days - The Premiere

I'm surprised no one has started a thread on this.

I personally was intrigued by the ads during Angel, so I found myself in front of the tube at 9.

I thought this was a nice opening - we had all the main characters introduced and immediately involved in a story that got wrapped up in an hour.

I didn't think it was outstanding or anything, but I'll definately watch the next episode. Didn't recognize any of the cast except for Theresa Russell but they all looked competent.

My only (relatively minor) complaints are:
We're never really given a chance to try to figure out things - we're led by the story as it unfolds. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I'd like a chance to think a little more outside of whats on screen. Here the plot twists were unexpected but maybe that'll just be the flavor of the show.

This also leads into - the POV. For a horror/suspense, the camera seemed to be more on the characters than on what they're seeing. Like in the end - I was more curious about what the girl was pointing the flash light on, but the camera just showed her. Now if she was a really good actress, this would have worked, but here it just didn't work. At other times, the camera seemed to be holding on closeups way too long. Maybe this is just because its the first episode and this is their way of familiarizing the viewers to the characters...

Anyone else watch this?

Watched it. It was average. I liked some of the characters but wasn't too intrigued by the story. If it's going to be a long suspense arc, that sounds cool, but it looked more like single episodic suspense, and that will get incrediby cheesy very quickly. How many times can the audience handle the killer getting back up when you think he's dead? Might watch it again, but doubtful.

Wasn't the lead, Eddie Cahill the guy who played "Tad?" in Friends last season, who was Rachel's male assistant that she had the hots for?

I liked it when he got "inked" by his mom.

Theresa Russell has got the strangest speech pattern, it's a bit drowsy, and sex-inducing.

Wasn't too keen on the cast, the younger kid sister was cute, but the rest of the women were average.

I can't seeing this show lasting to be picked up for next season.

Me neither. I watched it, and enjoyed it. I haven't dropped by the WB message boards to see if there's a full-on Felicity fan induced boycott of the show or not, but I know first hand what this timeslot sharing with Felicity can do to a show. I'm not going to get attached to it, because my favorite show was a casualty of this timeslot share last year.

Edit: Good ol' Felicity fans. There's a rumor that the show is ending after this season(makes sense since everyone will be out of school). So there are thread's on Glory Days message board with stuff like

"Don't watch this show or Felicity will be cancelled"

and stuff in the Felicity message board like "who's boycotting Glory Days?"

This one:

"Friends" (1994) playing "Tag Jones" in episode: "One With The Red Sweater, The" (episode # 8.2) 10/4/2001

I'm now depressed. I had him pegged as being older than 24. I was thinking he was in his late 20s, and turns out I'm older than him.

Also, Ellie seemed familiar to me. Turns out she was in The Other Sister and Dead Man on Campus, so that's probably why.

Could Eddie Cahill be wearing more rouge on his face last night? Ah, it was Tag as his character's name on Friends. Also, I didn't remember his eyes being the lighter color they were last night as they were on Friends. He has spooky eyes.

I think the show was good. It looks like it takes a more supernatural flavor as the episodes go on. Could get better.
I liked Eddie Cahil and the guy who played the cop but what was with Eddies hair?
How many face lifts has Terrsa Russel had?

E.C also was on Felicity as the psycho Boyfriend which was very differnt than the role he played on Friends as well as this.

I loved his eyes

I was hoping for a long suspense arc as well.
I was really disappointed when it turned out to be a self-contained episode.

I was also annoyed by the same schtick being used by Kevin Williamson in Scream 2 of people being mad at a writer because of how they portrayed them in a book and saying stuff like "page 92....yada yada yada"....
I actually found the repetiveness quite sad.

No one else recognized Frances Fisher? She was the only actor/actress I recognized. She played Kate Winslet's mother in Titanic among other things......
