2 New BUFFY Episodes in January...

The Repeat Schedule:
UPN appears to be almost done with its pre-season-six repeats. Here’s the rerun rundown, courtesy network insider:

Dec. 25: repeat of "Buffy vs. Dracula" (5.1)

Jan. 1: repeat of “Flooded” (6.4)

Jan. 8: new episode: “Gone” (6.11)

Jan. 15: repeats of “Weight of the World” (5.21) and “The Gift” (5.22)

Jan. 22: repeat of the two-hour season opener, “Bargaining” (6.1-6.2)

Jan. 29: new episodes begin with "Doublemeat Palace" (6.12)

Guess who's returning to Buffy-Town? Click HERE for the detail at the bottom of the article on Joss Whedon. Be warned, it contains one spoiler for the new upcoming episodes.

Wow..that is going to be interesting. Can't wait:)

MrN 12-26-01 11:39 AM

I was actually thinking about that, after the repeats on FX the last two days.

All I have to say is.....NO FREAKIN' WAY!!!!!

Wow, they are still making the show. I was beginning to wonder. I've never heard of or seen a major tv show take a 5 week break close to mid-season only to show reruns.

Great show, but that's just way too long.

The only really abnormal thing about it is that we didn't get a mid-December episode. Since there's 22 shows a season, and it has to be spread out over the sweeps periods, December-January is usually Rerun Extravaganza.

Blame UPN for the no new December ep. By bumping the premiere up a week (from Oct 9 to Oct 2), they had to insert an episode somewhere in the first nine episodes to keep the new episodes going through November sweeps (Trivia: Life Serial was the episode invented to pad out the space). This stuck them ahead of schedule--10 episodes done when they'd originally intended 9--so they had to skip the new December episode.

But, really, it's not all that uncommon.

In fact it's the norm ... not the abnorm. For some reason this year everyone seems to be spazzing over December reruns. This is how it is every year. The Fall season runs strong until November sweeps, and then everyone takes a break for a while, showing holiday specials and reruns until the new year. Dates are skewed a bit because of the bombings, but it's essentially the same as it always is.

I'm not trying to argue, I love the show and the break didn't bother me...much.

Nonetheless, I can't think of 1 other show on the 4 major networks that went 5 consecutive weeks without an original episode airing.

I think it was particulary risky for UPN since the ratings on Buffy have gone up from the WB, while even Angel's viewership has declined this season.

So, I'm not worried about me, but the new audience for Buffy, people who have short attention spans may just not tune back in. That many weeks of tuning in and finding a rerun has a way of making people get into other patterns for that night and they often forget to tune in after a few times.

I certainly don't want anyone to miss that suprise found in the link in this thread. I know that I can hardly wait.

Here's something else to look forward to: Click HERE and read all about it - a change that'll show up on the Jan. 8 episode (there is a spoiler in that link).

Jadzia 12-27-01 10:47 AM

As a new Buffy convert courtesy of FX, I am actually glad that UPN has run reruns. It has allowed me to catch up on the key shows that I missed (that FX didn't have rights to run.)

I now only need to see 5 more Buffy episodes and I'm completely caught up. Luckily UPN is showing 4 of them in the next month. The only one I'll be missing is "Life Serial".

Finally...I like it much better that way.

My favorite hairstyle for SMG is when she's talking to Jonathan in the end of the "Superstar/Jonathan" episode in Season 4 (I think) when everything has returned back to normal. I'll post a screen cap if I can find one (it's in one of the Buffy head shots from Season 5's opening montage).

Does anyone have any idea when UPN will rerun all of the 6th season episodes?

I am very happy camper because DirecTV has added UPN today. Trying to watch the episodes missing from FX via antenna was very painful. Now my D-TiVo can record them for me.

I like her new 'do. The really long hair was getting a little boring.

Patman 12-28-01 07:01 PM

Yes, I dig the new hairdo, too. She looks years younger (if that's possible), and a little more carefree.

WarriorPrincess 12-28-01 07:11 PM

I will never understand why everyone thinks short hair = better/younger. I think the opposite. I think short hair makes people look older. Case in point, my best friend, who is 6 years older than me, looked the same age as me when I met her (and her hair was long). She cut it all off, and had a cute style, but it aged her a few years so she looked much closer to her actual age. I liked SMG's hair a LOT more long - it was so pretty. Now it looks like everyone else's hair, which I find boring. Of course, I have long hair, so I might be biased when I think long hair is better than short...but the main reason mine is long is that it looks so much better on me that way than it does short.

Jadzia 12-28-01 10:01 PM

I think the long hair coupled with her weight loss was dragging her down, making her look more gaunt.

Iyt's amazing how cutting your hair can make you look more "lively".

[BUMP] to remind everyone. (It's been too long. I need my fix...)

milo bloom 01-07-02 12:01 AM

Is Angel new? Is there an Angel site like www.buffy.com ?

BizRodian 01-07-02 02:33 AM

I think Angel is new next week... not this week. But I'm not too sure... can't wait though...

The closest to an offfical site, I think is: http://www.thewb.com/Shows/Show/0,7353,||139,00.html

I'll give the new Buffy a watch, but after this season (baring two or three episodes) I'm ready to stop watching all together.

Jadzia 01-07-02 08:52 AM

Argh! According to my ReplayTV Channel Guide, we have to wait until Saturday the 12th to see the new Buffy!

It's getting pre-empted for basketball.

Ouch ... pre-empted for regular season basketball. That's just wrong.

Patman 01-07-02 09:47 AM

I hear in Pittsburgh that Buffy gets pre-empted by hockey games as well.
