So i've started watching this show (reruns and new episodes). No, the question isn't "what rock have i been living under?"

Every once in awhile words would show up on the bottom of the screen. "Testify" has come up quite a bit and i think "defense" came up once but i'm not sure. I've tried to figure out a pattern to them but have come up blank. I just want to know what they signify or what they're used for. thanks!

Are you sure this isn't some promotional thing? This sounds a lot like the "Buffy Weekends" syndication promotion, where words like "wicca" and "demon" were displayed at the bottom of the screen, and you could use them to enter some contest or other... In any case, I don't think they're part of the show...

Very strangeness indeed. I think it may have been part of the old episodes because now that i think about it, I haven't seen them on a Sunday 10:00 pm episode but do see them on the saturday and sunday 11:35 pm episodes.

And they're not quick flashes, they are shown there for a good 10 or 15 seconds.

I've been watching this show since it began, and I can tell you I don't remember ever seeing words flash at the bottom of the screen. I would suspect it's some sort of game run by the broadcaster, like adamblast said, where the word appearing on the screen signals the viewer to call in or log on or write down the time or something to enter some sort of a contest.
