Alias 12/09/01

This show is certainly picking up. Ever since the mental hospital episode, I've been on my toes. The tension is rising every episode - for once the "Felicity" moments didn't interfere with the rest of the story. One stickler - how many times has Sydney gotten out of a situation by playing dumb or asking where the bathroom is? That seems to be the new "running down the corridor" gimmick :)

Next week:
Spoiler:
The tension is gonna reach its peak. Sydney got captured, and who knows what they're going to do? But that "You'll never guess what's going to happen!" is usually a phrase that's used when the actual show doesn't live up to the hype...

Oh yes, Will finds out about SD-6. That means only one thing - he'd going to die! :) rotfl :) We just love to rag on that guy - he's the most annoying and clueless character on the show. It would be so great to see him get double-tapped in the head :)

yeah i would have to agree that this was a pretty good show. week after week this seems to be getting a little better, although there were a couple of weeks in there where it kinda lagged. sidney looked pretty good in that dress in tuscany. :) i am looking forward to next week, where there seems to be lots going on.

oh yeah, is it just me or does sidney seem to cry alot? for a secret agent one would think that she has more resolve.

Great episode, Am I the only one who thinks that.............................
Spoiler:
Sloan is Sidney's real father? In an earlier episode they showed a picture of the man who was with Sidney's mother when she died and it looked like Sloan but with a bad nose job. In this past episode he reveals how he "knew" her mother and has watched her grow up. He also seems to be genuinely concerned for her well being.

Great episode. That was a good bluff by Sloane.
I love that Marshall character!!! I crack up every time he's on the screen.
Can't wait for next week.

Believe me, you're not the only one, on my Alias board (http://sd-6.com/board/), there's already been some discussion of this, but I really don't see how it would make much sense. I'm not gonna use spoilers, so I won't discuss it in depth, but just give me some reasons that this would make sense - I need it to be explained to me.

I too thought it was a great episoide but
Spoiler:
I guess it never occured to the "good guys" that SD- 6 might be able to pick up the transmission Sid made in the bank vault when she gave the codes? I had a few other problems with this episode but overall it was still very entertaining.

Thrush, yes the thought had crossed my mind.
Spoiler:
I think they look more alike than Sid does to her "Dad".

And I like Sidney's outfit in the preview for next week's episode :)
She looked great in the bathtub in this one.

Spoiler:
I'd pay good money if someone would please kill Will. He's very annoying and very boring and very stupid.

Draven 12-10-01 01:33 AM

Spoiler:
And kudos for "fooling us" with the promo for this week. I was sure that Sydney's father would be "the mole" since the preview said "We've found our mole, it's Bristow." I was sure it was going to be her father, and I was pleasantly surprised they went with Sydney.

I'm curious to see how they get her out of this, and how they plan to do a second season. I'd be interested in seeing what they do for the future. A great show though...

I really love this show -- much more exciting than the overhyped "24", though I'll still watch that for Kiefer.

However, "Alias" has really dropped in the ratings, so I'm not even sure there WILL be a "next season". . .

As for the "Felicity moments", I think that's what makes "Alias" interesting -- the contrast between Sydney's adrenaline-pumping job, then the "everydayness" of the life she returns to. Her "normal life" takes on additional resonance when you know what she has just experienced on her "trip".

Patman 12-10-01 01:33 PM

Spoiler:
I'm almost positive that Sidney's mom was the KGB agent, and once her cover was blown, she had to be killed.

RolloTomasi 12-10-01 05:03 PM

Patman, I agree.
Spoiler:
That was the first conclusion I jumped to when the codes were found in her books. It would also make the most sense...

Things are starting to look up, the past few weeks the ratings have actually improved. Last night it trounced the X-Files.
