Zack Morris on NYPD BLUE?

wtf? I just saw some commericals for NYPD BLUE. Is that Zack Morris? He's supposed to be Dennis Franz's new partner? Good God! Why isnt that show cancelled by now?

Hey now. Don't diss Zack. I'm sure he'll do a fine job. He kicked booty in Dead Man on Campus.

Edit: I got confused last week. I guess I was watching one of the Law & Orders and Zack was playing a gay porn actor. I was thinking, "Wait, he's a cop, and a gay porn actor? WTF?" That was before I realized I wasn't watching NYPD Blue.

Although I haven't watched the show since David Caruso left (not a conscious decision), every review I have read for the new season indicate he is doing a fine job in the new role.

Probably becuase it's an excellent show, and Mark-Paul Gosselaar is a very talented actor. Try watching before condemning.

First Rick Shroder was Dennis Franz's partner, now it's Mark-Paul Gosselaar. Who's next, Webster or maybe Jerry Mathers.

OK ... well, I was basing my comment on the fact that you weren't aware of Mark-Paul's presence on the show until seeing him in a commercial ... so I wondered how you could judge his performance without seeing it.

Count me in as one who was shocked at the casting choice - UNTIL I saw the season opener and last week's episode. He did an amazing job, and my faith in NYPD Blue continues. This show (which I've watched faithfully since the third episode many years ago) has put me through the emotional wringer more times than I can count. I was heartbroken when Caruso left - who could possibly fill his shoes?!? Then the fabulous Smits came on board, and I couldn't have been happier. Then Smits left (sob! Couldn't even bring myself to watch the end of that episode - as it was I cried for at least a half hour after I stopped watching). What will they do? I thought. Then the Ricker?!? Is someone smoking something?! But they came through again, and Rick did a fantastic job as well. And now Zack, I mean Mark. I had faith that even though the choice seemed horrid, they hadn't let me down yet, and I was right. He was fantastic.

And this doesn't even mention all of the rest of the cast who've come and gone - Andy Jr., Martinez, Fancy, Jill, Diane, Sylvia...this show has been through so many cast changes and each time they find a way to make it as good as it was before. Different, but just as good. I still miss each character that left, but the show goes on, literally. With great writing, directing and acting, NYPD Blue continues to be some of the best tv in existence. Guess you could call me a fan.

Mark has turned out to be quite a good addition. Add to that the fact that this character's father REALLY hates Sipowics and we're in for quite a ride. Personally, I never liked the female cops on the show. They never seemed tough enough to me, though Dianne went through some hard times after Bobby's death. But man oh man, I cannot say enough good things about Charlotte Ross as Connie. She's one tough cookie.

Hey das seems like we agree on something

He is right, Mark-Paul is pretty cool. Hey, I am huge Saved by the Bell fan also. Give it a chance. Watch it first, then complain.

***JUST ANNOUNCED***

Mark-Paul Getlostelar will be leaving "NYPD Blue" after 4 more episodes. He will be replaced by either the geek with glasses from "The Wonder Years" or cousin Oliver from "The Brady Bunch". Executives at ABC are still undecided. There is no truth to the rumor that producers have already interviewed Mikey from the Life cereal commercials.

Too much free time on your hands. Still jealous he got to make out with Tiffani-Amber Thiessen?

Well damn it, I should never have doubted the producers of NYPD. Mark Paul in just 3 short episodes had established himself as a quite an interesting character.

Jeez - if you want to make a joke like that at least LOOK UP the actors' names. In this case it is Josh Saviano (Paul on The Wonder Years) and Robbie Rist (Oliver on The Brady Bunch). Now THAT'S funny!

Mark-Paul Gosselaar is doing great! They did a good job in transitioning between Ricky and Mark-Paul (Tailfeathers-NYPD narcotics division).
