CSI 11/15...pushing the envelope???

Just got finished watching this past week's episode of CSI (I taped it). There were either 2 or 3 breast shots that kind of caught me by surprise. It pertained to the story as the crime lab was examining a dead, naked female victim. There was a warning at the beginning of the episode, but I was expecting a silhouhete (sp?) or something...

Anyone else a bit surprised by this?

I think the networks are tired of seeing HBO clean up at the Emmys every year. So they are starting to get more risque(read real) in their programming, like showing SPR uncut.

Not as surprised as the first time I saw that older cop's ass on NYPD blue.

I've been amazed at this show since day one. I watched the pilot that was on last weekend and recalled a very funny scene were Holly gets trapped in the Morgue, and Grissom lets her out and she's panicing and said there were dead bodies in there (duh). Anyway, he leans over to the window and yells "you @ssholes" to the bodies to make her feel better. They film him saying it from the other side of the door, but you can CLEARLY make out what he said. I laughed my @ss off!

I wasn't too surprised. The only scene that caught my eye was the SFX shot of the camera going through the dead lady's nipple to the breat implant, and since it only lasted 1/2 a second, I didn't really notice.

One show that did surprise me was Chicago Hope. Probably about the second season (when it was still a fairly good show) they did some sort of cosmetic surgery on a teenage who had to have one of her nipples removed. Anyway at the end of the show they showed a full on shot of both her breasts to show that they now both looked the same again. I was quite surprised. Am I the only one who remembers this?

How about Meredith Baxter getting a full-on breast exam by her doctor in the made-for-TV special, My Breast?

When half the world has them (or more then half if you count fat guys!) it's terribly stupid to be afraid to show them. Honestly, if they're not used in a purley sexual porn style why, they're just body parts, and should be treated as such.

I thought that it was pretty cool that they dared to do that. From what I hear, this is something we'll start to see more and more of in the next couple years to come.

Yes, but I am surprised because there was a hint of eroticism in the scene in which they appear. Music, camerawork, Grissom carefully examining the body, using a soft touch, checking the temperature of the water, etc. I think they were doing a lot more than just showing a breast, they were making a statement about Grissom's love life.

I wasn't surprised, I knew the second the warning was up that it would be nude-dead.

I must admit that the scenes felt a bit contrived.

Don't get me wrong I understand that coroners examine nude dead bodies all day long but it didn't fit with the style of the show.

Maybe I'm just mad because it was a dead body and not Catherine!

Love the show! Guess they can get away with things when it's presented in a "clinical" way.

I just think its sad that America is still so trapped in innocence. We just had over 5000 people killed by terrorist and its still shocking, and envelope pushing to show a breast or a butt or say a curse word. To me the thing is, as long as we keep acting like a breast is the enemy of the western world it will remain to be. The networks need to wake up and smell the reality of the world stop trying to protect us for the things that arent going ot hurt us.

All that being said if it doesn't help the story why worry about it.
All those fake breasts on the Sopranos strip club are so nasty looking they couldn't possibly be a turn on to anyone.

Very true pawdog, and yet some people think showing Breasts on TV is evil, yet showing a live execution would be alright.

How do these people think like this?

I think both should be shown on TV (although the execution should be pay per view so not just anybody can watch it and the money made would go to the victims).

Power to ya, you can think that if you want.

As long as you don't think breasts are evil and more harmfull then watching someone die. That's when I can't understand someone.
