One time he was on Leno and was a total *******. I mean, it was a really hostile interview. Jay was trying to salvage what humor was left, but it was impossible. Maher was just a total jackass.
So they went to the next guest after a commercial break, and (to the chagrin of Leno, I'm sure), Maher sat next to the other guest, and proceeded to almost pick a fight with them, too. It was probably one of the most hostile celebrity talk show episodes I've ever seen. Oh, no, wait... it probably ties with when I flipped through the channels and saw Tom Selleck on Rosie O'Donnel. It was the only time I actually wanted to watch her show. I mean, I tend to agree with some of what Maher says, but he's such an egotistical ass that no one even cares. |
While, I watched it from time to time on Comedy Central (usually just because I was killing time until the Mystery Science Theater midnight show), and then it was pretty quickly dropped from my ABC affilaite after it moved there... If it really is being cancelled because of one brief statement, misunderstood, or not, that is sad. We are about freedom arent we? We are fighting against an enemy right now, because, in part they disagree with our free expression society? I say if Bill O'Rielly, Jerry Falwell, Rush Limbaugh and tons of other asses whose opinions I dont agree with can find public forums to spew out thier venoms for hours on end every week, then no one should be coming down on Maher, a**hole or not.

I'd say the ironic thing is the reason why it would be cancelled and why it was popular in the first place: for being politically incorrect. Ridiculous in my opinion.

Bill Maher is an arrogant prick, and sometimes I wish I could reach through the TV screen and bop him in that big nose of his.
With that said, I do enjoy watching Politically Incorrect, and I hope it gets renewed. Bill's statement was taken out of context and blown way out of proportion. I think the show would benefit from a move to a cable station that's not-so-PC; a new, less self-serving host; and an hour time slot (just when the debates start getting heated, the show's over). |
I think it is better suited for Comedy Central anyway...it should return there.
