Is anyone else excited about The Tick premiere?

Fox has been saving this baby for a year now. Critics have mostly given it terrific reviews and expected it to be a hit. But there has since been little fanfare about it. I haven't seen any ads or anything for it.

But lo and behold, I see tonight's TV listings and see that the premiere is tonight at 8:30 EP/7:30 CM. Unfortunately, it's up against Survivor and whatever NBC wants to put after Friends. From the sound of it, I hope that this is one show that makes it, but due to poor publicity, might not.

See here http://www.spe.sony.com/tv/shows/tick/index.phtml for more info.

I've been waiting for this, loved the cartoon, love Puddy, LOVED the commercial where he spits the fry out of his mouth because it's too hot.

i'm not really looking forward to it, but i might check it out, i wouldn't expect this show to have a long lifespan though, i think its going to bomb hard, moved to a different night, and then cancelled within 2 months

I hope FOX shows some patience considering the timeslot. Both 'The Tick' and 'Family Guy' have a tough road ahead of them, but I hope they make it. 'Family Guy' is already a great show, and 'The Tick' surely will be.

Ha ha ha! I’m way looking forward to this one. Survivor is as fun as watching water go down a toilet for me (no, I’m not saying I’m into watching water go down toilets) so this one’s a no brainer.
It is sad that this show is pretty much guaranteed to have a short life span. I think Tyrell said it best. “The star that burns twice bright…”
I guess we’ve got to enjoy these gems whenever they even get green lighted and just be happy with what we get.

***WARNING***

Bush is speaking tonight (7:00 CST I think). Fox might bump everything after that, so you might want to overcompensate if you're planning on taping this.

[Edit: According to AP, his speech is scheduled to last for 25 minutes.]

Loved the comic. Loved the cartoon. Loved Johnny Johnson. I'll be tuning in, because this show will most likely get cancelled, so better catch it while you can.

Apparently there was not a broadcast mandate from the White House on this speech. NBC and CBS are not showing it on network, ABC is... Not sure about Fox. YMMV.

Man that sucked. Only thing that was funny was when Batmanuel's phone rang (because I hear that ring so goddamn much) and he just answer's "Batmanuel" with the spanish accent, that was funny. The rest just sucked.

I thought it was great! It stayed fairly true to the cartoon, and the dialogue was fantastic. "Sticky pink devil!". I will definately watch this show.

It was ok... Fairly close to the origin episode of the cartoon.

I thought the cast was dead-on, but I hope it picks up over the next few episodes now that the intros are out of the way.

It seemed, to me, to be pretty badly done. It'll probably drop off the air FAST.

Besides, why not the original characters? No de flitermous (sp, I'm sure), no American Maid, no Sewer Urchin, no guy-wrapped-in-carpet...

There were some rights issues. I believe Saban (or Fox Kids, or some entity) owns the rights to the names "Die Fledermaus" and "American Maid" and any other character that was made expressly for the show. The only characters that can appear on it are ones from the original cartoon. Regretfully that means there won't be an "Evil Midnight Bomber What Bombs at Midnight" appearance

I have to say it was Ok. I was expected a little more. The story was the main problem. It should of been a 1 hour long pilot. The cast was good and often times the show was quite funny. Hope, it improves in future episodes or it might see its doom before this season ends.

"...a secret message...from my TEETH!!"
"....Fight fire, with Arthur"

It was quite true to the comic book. Batmanuel is hilarious.

Three weeks, tops.

I liked it, but it will never fly. I don't think the proverbial Joe Sixpacks will get it.

I thought it was great. Remember, this is just the first half hour of the series, you can't expect every single character to be introduced in the first episode, or too much crammed into half an hour. It had the same cheesy humor that the cartoon did and I thought it was well done. I look forward to seeing more.

I enjoyed it, but it's not as good as the animated version. And it has a tough follow with 'The Family Guy', which gets better every week.

Seemed pretty watchable to me. Very true to the original and well directed and acted. It is surreal to see this cartoon in live action. They seem to have done a great job. I don't get a great feeling about the longevity of this series though, hopefully fox gives it a fair shake.

This will be canceled really quickly.

I enjoyed it but there's just not enough there for even one season.

I guess I would classify "The Tick" as 'cute'.
