The TCM channel Appreciation Thread
Just saw Beat the Devil over the weekend with no commercial interruptions. Never saw it before, it's a good Bogie / Peter Lorrie movie and TCM does a good job with the presentation.
No commercial interruptions.
And who doesn't like Robert Osborne and his movie info.
I just read in a different thread that AMC is playing some of their movies with commercials now?

I'll chip in with a big thumbs up for TCM. I moved last year and the new cable doesn't have a bunch of stuff I used to have, but TCM is the only one that I really miss.
I always thought it was weird that it's a Ted Turner station. The guy was a total movie-colorizing heretic but now he's my hero, an OAR-loving, commercial-hating, non-colorizing cable guy.

TCM is an excellent channel, lotsa good stuff. They always seem to have plenty of Abbott & Costello movies that I haven't seen in many years. And I've got a new appreciation for James Cagney and other old movies that don't get any play on other channels.

A big for TCM from me.
As far as I know they are the only movie channel that shows movies letterboxed as a standard policy.

I like that they don't show the same movies over and over again like AMC. I enjoy some of the flicks they repeat but jeez...it gets old after a while.

Do not miss Bop Girl Goes Calypso this weekend, late Sat early Sunday 11/11. This hasn't aired for well over three years. Early rock & roll vs calypso movie from '57. You won't believe The Goofers stage show, not to mention the movie's alleged "plot."
.
Also definitely don't miss Wicked Woman around Nov 21, one of their weekly cult movies featured this month. A real sleazy B, with a trash-o-rama blonde and a bigger than usual role for froggy-voiced Percy Helton. You'll know him when you see him. Read the short review at the TCM site, it's on the money.
I also try to watch anything from the 1930's, especially the first three years before the Hays Office really clamped down. There are some creaky old stagey dramas, but you usually can't go wrong with Warren William as a cad or Loretta Young as a bad girl. Watch for Loretta in Midnight Mary or The Hatchet Man with Eddie G Robinson.
