That short lived sitcom starring Kurt Angle as a stay at home dad was such a classic, how can this new poster never have heard of it? Ah, youth.

20 years ago a show would have a thread for every episode. Now a show like The Rookie, for example, barely gets any comments over an entire season.

It's not JUST the lack of traffic/users on this forum, it's also how DVRs, streaming, etc. has changed our viewing habits and how very few if any shows generate "water cooler" talk anymore.

Watching habits are soooo different nowadays.
Adjacent related, it is always interesting to me to see some shows that ended years ago suddenly show up on Netflix and are big viral hits. And no one watched the show previously.

It's like that old NBC tagline, "it's new to you."

I think that IB Brands has not completely missed an opportunity to revive DVD Talk, they could re-invest in this site, re-hire some reviewers (far from everyone only relies on Youtubers to check out HD/UHD/new films being released reviews), and there has been a steady release from some well known boutique/niche labels of some fairly beloved films from the past 15-25+ years that I would read reviews of if they were featured on this site.
Also, in another thread I said we might see new Buffy in 2026, but no one has really signed any paperwork that will have them get back to work, so fingers crossed that no more than 2 years from now we are treated to new Buffy.
I know Charisma Carpenter was older than the age she played in Buffy, but I forgot that she was in her mid-twenties while playing a high school student.
I also never focused too much on her acting chops, because between her looks and her somewhat unique voice (I feel like if I heard Charisma Carpenter's voice on my TV and I was in another room I would recognize it was her on my TV and when I went to check this would confirm that fact), that was enough to make me a fan of hers. Not to mention that she was great in Angel. She really came into her own on that show and was in most of the episodes.

Even with a VCR I bet you watched that right away, or at least well before the next week's episode. There was a real sense of FOMO with serialized shows that just doesn't exist anymore, which also leads to complacency in even starting to watch some of these shows.

Re: Buffy Fans: Charisma Carpenter Question
Yes, I recorded and watched asap so I would not fall behind. I seem to remember I brought a fairly large tube tv with me to college (or bought one that was at least 22-32 inches big) and watching shows like Buffy is one of the reasons why I made sure I was all set to not miss episodes.
I would also like to point out that while many in college were shocked at how much effort I put into watching TV, it did not keep me from being a good/great student. I was an English/Lit Major and this means I had to read a crazy amount of books (so very time consuming), and there was one quarter towards the end of my stay (I was graduating that year) where I had to read not just a ton of books/articles from places like JSTOR, but I also was tasked with coming up with like 65(!) pages worth of content between all my classes that I had to write and turn in as my final paper. One paper alone was a 25 page beast. Just further proof that even though lots of folks over the past decades have called TV the idiot box, it does not have to be that way.

Most of the discussion posts DVDtalk used to receive dried up when Twitter and other social media became dominant online platforms, stealing many casual users. There's been a concerted effort by corporations to steer traffic away from smaller sites for large social media platforms.

I'm surprised Charisma never did a Hallmark movie. Speaking of the Buffy revival, I hope Nicholas Brendon can get his life back together and be on the new series for at least a cameo. I also hope this revival might bring a HD remaster or Blu-ray of the complete original series.

Wow, she's 55 then.
Hell, James Marsters is 62 already. That whole Buffy cast was old as hell playing highschoolers.

True. I don't go into season long threads of shows anymore for fear of spoilers. So by the time I finish the season, most of the discussion is already over.

I looked through her IMDB and didn't see any Hallmark movies. I feel like she would have been a good choice for them. The first thing I ever saw her in was the short lived tv series Malibu Shores that Keri Russel was the lead in back in 1996. I always had a bit of a crush on her. She was 26 and playing a teenager on Shores at the time.

That started out as a ABC Family movie though. Hallmark must have acquired it at some point. It was not a Hallmark Channel Original Movie.

Before I go to bed tonight, I will hit my knees and pray to Jesus that the singular honor of starring in a Hallmark Channel Original Movie, that has thus far eluded Charisma Carpenter, comes to her, so she can die fulfilled.
