it was the captain galaxy episode
captain galaxy almost leaped
he gave the string theory to Sam as a kid at the end because Sam wrote a letter asking to explain the theory of time travel

well old Sam definitely filled in some spots, but the old guy had the basics, he did start to turn blue when sitting in his machine
