And another piece of trivia for those who watch TNG. The actor that played Professor Moriarty (Daniel Davis) is from Arkansas and not british either!

The strangest piece of memorabilia I own is from him. He was in Atlanta doing some promo for The Nanny or something, and I ran into him at a hotel. I had nothing on me at all except, very oddly enough, a Yo-Yo (the best Yo-Yo I've ever owned I might add - action on it was incredible, but that just makes me sound strange, so I'll stop talking about it :)). Anyway, I had him sign the Yo-Yo for me. I had planned to start collecting signed Yo-Yo's after that for fun, but some crappy company released a bunch of TNG Yo-Yo's about 5 months later, and it pretty much killed the uniqueness of getting any more signed. Still, that first Yo-Yo is a prize possesion :)

He's a really nice guy. I saw him at Williamstown Theatre Festival in a fabulous play. I think he's on broadway now.

I really liked the show. It was my first time to hear James without the accent. :( I think he is way more sexier with it :) It was really interesting to see how the make Buffy and I liked the Cast interviews.

Is it me, or were the last two FX episodes cheesy? I talking about the demon in the computer and the talking dummy episodes. Chalk it up to limited budgets I guess.

At least the humor is still good...

The whole robot episode was pretty bad (especially since it's pretty much Teacher's Pet, but with Willow instead of Xander, and a demon-computer instead of a mantis-woman)--but it introduced Ms. Calendar, so it gets credit.

And I /love/ The Puppet Show. Not only did it intro Snyder, but the group interaction is great. The main plot was surprisingly twisted, and I can never make it through the Oedipus scene at the end without just totally breaking into laughter.

The one thing season 1 reruns reminded me of: David Boreanaz /could not act/ in the first season. Yeesh.

Yea, it was interesting to see how far David has come since the first season. I cringe everytime I see him in the first scene in WTHM.

F/X doesn't have the syndication rights. They're just showing the program second-run on cable. Syndication is an entirely different entity.

No, it's not jumbled at all. That's the way syndication works. Buffy could just as likely air in syndication on your local NBC affiliate, a UPN affiliate, a CBS affiliate, or an independent altogether. It's all dependent on who ponies up the cash.

Loved the 'play' scene!

I guess I just didn't like the puppet effects, having already seen 'Chucky' and the like.

Yeah, I am loving finally seeing these early Buffy's. I'm actually going to be kinda' disappointed when they get into the episodes I've seen. But, while these shows are weak compared to what we've grown used to, I still havent found an episode without a few little nuggets of humor and wonderful hints at whats to come.

The last two were okay- The computer demon one was worth it just for Giles explanation of why he doesnt like computers (something I've always agreed with) that information should be more tangible, have a substance connection when you encounter it, 'computers dont smell'. And the Dummy episode was worth it just for Xander's "Redrum, Redrum" taunting with the dummy.

Angel defintiely has evolved a lot; he seems to be the only charcter that Joss didnt have a firm peg on, since he started out a smirking stranger and is slowly becoming the brooding Angel we all know and love. I cant wait to see his and Buffy's dating days, since I basically became a regular viewer when their relationship was breaking up.

I love "The Puppet Show" because it contains the single greatest line of the entire series:

"Okay, does anyone else here feel like they've just been Keyser Soze'd?"

I'm in complete agreement! I loved the whole Xander doing a silly voice, red-rum thing, and also loved Giles' explanation of why he doesn't like computers.

And Angel is most definitely much better acted now and a much better character now. But then, David Boreanaz could just stand there and I'd be happy as long as I could look at him. ;)

While the caliber of the humor in the writing is definitely there already, I do notice that the cast hasn't got the spot-on timing that they have now - just a hair off in the timing of the delivery of lines so that what could be devastatingly funny is only regular funny. I think this is also because of camerawork and directing and editing, not just acting. But I find it amazing that even so early there was just SO much talent - and then later when everyone has a total command of the characters and the cameramen/director/editor also know the "feel" of the show inside and out - we get perfection. Watching it evolve is a very cool experience.

I've still got all of season 2 and most of season 3 that are new to me, but I'll be bummed when I can't see a "new" Buffy every day. I've gotten spoiled already! :)

Yea, no kidding. I'm liking new Buffy's almost everyday.

I'm in the position of having seen all of the first three seasons, and then skipping large chunks of S4--as a result, I don't think I've ever seen Hush or Restless. So, I'm waiting for FX to catch up to where I am.

It'll be interesting to see how people react to the much-vaunted Season 2 (I have never cried so much at a TV show...)

Alexis Denissoff - Which accent is false American or U.K.?

His English accent is absolutely flawless in every way, much better even than spikes.
Also he was in a video circa 1989 of George Harrison called "I've Got My Mind Set On You", which was very English and set in a U.K. style amusement arcade. Some of the other actors in it were English as well, so I assumed it was filmed in England.

Then when I heard his accent a while ago I thought perhaps he was originally English, but had moved to the U.S. 5 or 10 years ago and picked up the accent.

Anyone know the truth?

Alexis's UK accent is faked. He and Alyson Hannigan were on E's Celebrity Adventures, and he was speaking with a normal American accent thorugh the special while in some African country (I think).

I can't remember if anyone has mentioned in this thread or the other Buffy thread that James Marsten's (Spike) accent is fake as well, he' got a surfer dude accent for his normal accent.

I finally caught up with all of last week's FX Buffy episodes.

Loved seeing Buffy as a vampire, made that whole nightmare episode worthwhile.

Xander flat out gets laughs out of me almost every episode - "For those in the studio audience, like me, could you explain that?" The redrum-redrum bit with the dummy was also funny as hell. Plus having the dummy as the horny dummy and Buffy's brief one-on-one in the rafter was just such natural dialogue.

Ms. Calendar is yummy. I hope she shows up again. She totally pushes (Rupert) Giles' bottons.

Whoever casted Kristine Sutherland as Buffy's mom did a nice job.

Digging Buffy in padded and push-up bras (I guess they they through they needed that extra boost of sexiness on the show in its early days).

The perils of online love relationships were examined in that Malloch episode.

I would just like to say that having the Buffy Lives 6th season premire and the 1st season "Nightmares" episode occur in the same week was perfect. Giles nightmare of losing Buffy was great foreshadowing. That really knocked me for a loop.

Plus seeing Buffy fight her way out of her coffin in the Nightmare episode was just so bizarre after seeing the UPN season premiere last Tuesday.
