family guy creator almost on fatal flight

A flight not taken

The next time your travel agent goofs up, remember what happened to Seth MacFarlane, creator of Fox's wacky cartoon, Family Guy. MacFarlane was booked to fly from Boston to Los Angeles on American Airlines Flight 11. His itinerary said the flight would leave at 8:15 a.m., when in fact the departure time was 7:45. He got to the gate just as boarding was finished. Trying to persuade gate agents to let him on "is something I would have pressed them on in the past, but for some reason I didn't this time — and thank God."

While waiting in a lounge for the next flight, he learned Flight 11 had crashed into the World Trade Center. "I just sort of stared at the screen and said, 'Oh, my God.'" MacFarlane drove to Los Angeles instead. "I've thought about it a lot, but it really hasn't sunk in yet. I saved the itinerary. I figure it's a piece of history. It was much too close of a shave for me."

Somewhat veering OT, in Stephen King's "The Stand," I believe Glen was talking about something similar to this. He said that planes that crash have the most cancellations, because people have this 6th sense about the planes. He said that they are usually only something like 2/3 full (someone who remembers the book better than me could probably elaborate on the matter) Has something like this ever been proven, or was King just talking out of his bum?

interesting. i'd like to know about this too. (but i suspect King just made it up, or heard it from a guy, who heard it from a guy...)
