Letterman-- where is it taped?

Where is Letterman taped, in relation to the WTC? Pretty close? I'm just thinking about what a difficult time he'll have trying to have a comedy show on that first day back.

Dave Letterman is taped in the Ed Sullivan Theater on Broadway. which is in in mid-town Manhattan, much north of the WTC.

I share the same concerns about The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

Expect a lot of "safe" jokes, like Michael Jackson, viagra, bad movies, Marlon Brando's weight, etc.
I don't expect any GWB gags. That's good.

Yeah, we aren't likely to see jokes about the multiple manglings of the English language he's made in his various speaches this week.

Seriously, after a week like last week, a good dose of laughter would be just what our country needs. The Dubya stuff can wait.

Hm. You know, originally I had "speeches" but then, later, came back and changed it to "speaches", because for some reason it "didn't look right". You can see that the message was edited. Go figure.

This tragedy (and my mistake) still aren't enough to change my opinion that Dubbya is a low-brow nitwit who would NEVER have came within a million milles of the White House if his Daddy hadn't once been president. Too bad Mccain hadn't won the primaries, or Colin Powell ran.

Yeah, Letterman's back on tonight. I HIGHLY reccomend watching it tonight ... Dave gives a heart wrenching commentary on all the happenings of the past week. I have never seen such a "funny" man look so uncomfortable in front of a camera. If you have a chance, tune in.

Dave was a pillar tonight. Don't miss it if you're on the west coast.

he looked like a total wreck image wise, i swear he looked 10 years older stressed out like that.. I love the show though. so heart filled, and so compassionate about it. It looked at times that he was just going to lose it.

my thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in new york and effected by this tragedy.

I watched the show and I have to say that as a former employee there, its the best damned show I've seen. Dave and Dan Rather were sincere, and it made me well-up just watching them. It was a tough decision to come back, but I believe Dave and the staff made the right decision.

By the way, the Ed Sullivan Theater is on Broadway and 53rd (someone said 54th). Not too close to the destruction, but not far enough away for the impact...much like the rest of us.

I wonder if anyone has it on a file-sharing service.

Great show but I'm surprised that when Letterman (repeatedly) asked Rather what caused the terrorists to do this that Rather kept saying only "they just hate us" and they're "jealous". Senator McCain was on Leno tonight and even he managed to give a more detailed answer of this complicated issue despite his more militant attitude.

BTW, u can get the show off the newsgroup alt.binaries.multimedia if you rush.

The person that encoded this also posted to alt.binaries.vcd. I just finished downloading it, and it's pretty good, considering he posted it a couple hours after it aired.
