TV shows changed in wake of WTC tragedy.......

Sunday's Emmy Awards have been indefinitely postponed whilst most TV shows in production on their upcoming Fall seasons have been shutdown. The incident comes at a time when three of the most highly anticipated shows of the new TV season - "Alias", "The Agency" and "24" - focus on the CIA's crime fighting efforts against terrorists. As a result promotional spots for these new series have been pulled from their respective networks and whilst the premieres for each show is still scheduled, content may be changed as the pilot for "24" (due to air late October) for example includes a sequence where a terrorist blows up a plane. "The West Wing" third season premiere is expect to air as planned next week. Other productions like "Friends" are being looked over with a fine tooth comb and any shot with the towers in the background will either be removed or have the towers digitally erased out.

Courtest of wayoverboard.com:

"All syndicated episodes of Diff'rent Strokes will now contain digitally rendered landscapes of Southern California as the backdrop for the Drummond's balcony. This will be the new setting for the show and Willis and Arnold will now be from South Central LA rather than Harlem."

While I think it is wise to put some of the upcoming Fall shows on hold while changes are made, I don't see how people expect to never hear/see "World Trade Center, "terrorist," or "hijack" from entities which had already been created. Where do we draw the line? The more this gets out of hand, the greater the terrorists' victory.

Are they ever going to air The Simpsons episode where Homer has to go to the WTC to get his car?

It's in syndication, and I saw it a few months ago, but I don't think they will edit it. Wheter it will be on a future "Simpsons" dvd is a different story...

Yup, a good episode. They'll continue to show it, we are forgetting that people WILL get over this over time. As much as I am sick to my stomach and will be for weeks to come, something like that shouldn't effect many people. Other things on the other hand might.

More courtesty www.darkhorizons.com

More changes in store for the small screen as a result of the recent tragedy. NBC is postponing the premieres of its new season lineup by a week, it will now kick off on September 24th. They've also scrapped plans for a five-hour mini-series subtitled "Terror" which would've combined the cast members of all three "Law and Order" shows. Leno, Letterman and many other talk shows will not air again till next week, the Latin Grammy Awards have been cancelled altogether, whilst the Emmy awards still remain unscheduled though organisers are rushing now to find a date. CBS has postponed the premiere of "Wolf Lake" by a week, the second episode of "The Amazing Race" has also been delayed by a week - as has FOX's "Love Cruise". Weekend screenings of "The Peacemaker" and "Independence Day" will be substituted for "Hope Floats" and "Mrs. Doubtfire" respectively. Both The WB and UPN on the other hand at present are continuing with their show premieres as planned.

Does anyone remember what the plot of the first episode of The Lone Gunmen was?

...

There was a plot to crash a plane into the World Trade Center.

How much do you bet this episode will never be seen again?

The show doesn't air anymore, has been canceled, and didn't have enough episodes to go into syndication. Why would they show it again, even if none of this happened?

The show had different release dates around the world (I hear that Australia only recently started airing episodes).

Fox might have felt that it could use the show to fill in rerun gaps during the next season of the X-Files.

They could always have made a DVD set.

Am I the only one that finds this digital editing and changing of old episodes totally unappropriate and stupid??
Unfortunately, a very sad piece of history has been written and, while I understand that the view of the twin towers in tv shows may be painful to those who lost loved ones in the attack and not only to them, but I think life has to go on and events like this and their effect should not be "digitally erased"...

I was under the assumption that they are only doing it to the episodes of "Friends" for the new season and not every episode that has been created.

Someone mentioned syndicated episodes as well.
For new episodes... you could go both ways I guess, but I don't really have a problem...
