TNN has joined the club?
I'm a huge fan of battlebots and I've checked out the clone on TLC (which is actually a pretty different show that just happens to have "bots" doing stuff) and I was very dissapointed by the TLC show.
I've got a short attention span and I like the battlebots action as opposed to having them navigate a maze or some other crappy task. Though these tasks are more intelligent and really do separate the better bots from the not as good bots.
Plus there's the good looking women with big boobies in Battlebots.

I caught Robot Wars last night too and thought the same thing. I thought I even noticed one of the bots from the intro from BattleBots.
The problem I had with Robot Wars was it seemed the battle area was way too small, the bots were always running into things and couldn't really fight. The camera work wasn't too great either as I could never tell what was going on.
On the plus side it has Mick Foley as an announcer! Also, that finale battle vs. the house robots I thought was gonna be dumb, but I actually found myself chearing outloud when Tricerabot tilted over Sir Kill-a-Lot.
But that one might have been better than the usual shows.
I'll give it a few more watchings to see how it goes, but for now I still like BattleBots better. And Robotica (the TLC one that the guy above mentions) least - did that get cancelled or something by the way? It hasn't been on in ages.

Battlebots was based on Robot Wars. The Wars came first as a series, debuting on British TV about 5 years ago. The format on British TV is a little different and has changed a few times over the years. All I can say is wait until TNN broadcasts the British version.

What I saw of the show was okay...Mick Foley seemed somewhat out of place hosting the show. I like Battlebots a whole lot more but I'll keep watching Robot Wars just for Rebecca Grant. It's been too long since I've seen her on TV.
btw, was is just me or did TNN have horrible sound on Monday? It sounded like a buzzsaw was running in the background. I watched it on DirecTV.

Of the 3 shows, Battlebots is still king.
The battles on RW were short. Lighting was poor and the area looked very small. The commentator wasn't really good and Foley looked out of place. The house robots were nice looking but I couldn't really care less if the winners in the first battle beat them.
One robot is supposed to have a flame-thrower or torch. If I built a bot on Battlebots, I'd like to include to include a torch, a water jet or an accessory to release a projectile. I haven't seen a bot with these features on the show. Maybe it's not allowed?
