The One and Only WWF SUMMERSLAM Thread

ok from now till it starts this can be a prediction thread, then will move to be a live play by play thread, then a review/afterthoughts thread

ok the matchups

Kurt 'Olympic hero' Angle V 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin

'People's Champ' the Rock V 'the Player' Booker T

Taker/Kane V Diamond Dallas Page/Chris Kanyon

Dudleys/Test V APA/Spike Dudley

Ivory/Stacey/Torri V Lita/Trish ( i think)

'The Whole ****in Show' RVD v Jeff Hardy (Ladder Match)

Taijiri V 'The Suckey one' Xpac

Lance Storm V Edge

Chris Jericho V Rhyno

i really really hope they don't add any more matches. I prefer less matches and give the guys more time to show their stuff

Overall a strong card i reckon. Marking out for RVD in the ladder match !

The ones I am faily confident on are:
Austin over Angle
Rock over Booker T

Ones I think will happen:
Jericho over Rhyno
Paige and Kanyon over Undertaker/Kane

Ones that better happen or I am losing my appeal for wrestling
RVD over Hardy
Tajiri over X-pac
Edge over Storm

Just one thing that has bothered me about wrestling lately is first, they should only do 2 more of these WCW/WWf PPV this year (including this one) and then one yearly. Also I hate that seemingly every WCW must cheat their way to victory ove a WWF wrestler. This makes it seems that all the WCW guys are lower caliber than WWF, while most are some are definately great wreslters (RVD for one).

there's gotta be some kinda surprise , there just has to be!

I really wanna see HBK but i think that's wishful thinking

Big Poppa Pump is a possibility, he could run in on Rock / Booker T giving Booker T the victory again a cheat win for the Alliance but i could never see the Rock losing cleanly in his first PPV back

Foley making an appearance is likely, let's hope he's used right

I hope RVD and Jeff hardy haven't been told to tone it down ! that would suck.

How do you think this one will rate against Wrestlemania? I ask because the only PPV anything that I ever purchased was the last WM, and it was great! I jsut don't want to fork over $30 for some crapper. Did WMX7 spoil me? Also, how long do the Summerslam shows usually run?

For the record, WM17 was possibly the best in history, so it did spoil you. SS are okay, but they usually run about 2.5 hours.

Summerslam will run close to 3 hours, all the PPVs except wrestlemania do

It's a strong card for sure even the undercard. I'd get it for sure

now here's where i can't understand things, here in Australia the PPVs only cost $22 australian which is like $12 US ! so well less than half what u guys pay, not that i'm complaining!

i always suggest getting together with some mates and splitting the cost if you don't wanna fork out the money on your own

Re: The One and Only WWF SUMMERSLAM Thread

Kurt 'Olympic hero' Angle V 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin
Austin should win, but Angle will probably put on a heck of a performance. I pick Austin since most people are expecting Austin vs the Rock at the next PPV. If there was room for an upset tonight though it could be here.

'People's Champ' the Rock V 'the Player' Booker T
No way the Rock will lose this one. The only reason he let Booker bookend him two nights in a row was to set up his big win at Summerslam.

Taker/Kane V Diamond Dallas Page/Chris Kanyon
I expect Taker and Kane to dominate the whole match. (simply because they usually refuse to make any opponent look good)
This will be a match to keep your eye open for a swerve. Something crazy may happen to give DDP and Kanyon the win.

Dudleys/Test V APA/Spike Dudley
Dudleys and Test should win this one. There will be drama surrounding Spike at some point.

Ivory/Stacey/Torri V Lita/Trish ( i think)
Lita and Trish will win easily.
Let's see three wrestlers against one and two models. Why bother. Its a shame Ivory has been stuck in such stupid roles with the WWF. For her age she still looks great.

'The Whole ****in Show' RVD v Jeff Hardy (Ladder Match)
RVD will win, but it should be the match of the night for high spots.

Taijiri V 'The Suckey one' Xpac
Taijiri should win. With all the great Cruiserweights the WWF has now I can't understand why Xpac is getting the spotlight. What a waste.

Lance Storm V Edge
Edge will probably win.

Chris Jericho V Rhyno
This could go either way, but I would expect Steph to help Rhyno win.

Did they just cancel the Womens tag team match with Ivory and Jackie? Sonovabiatch! Why does the WWF have such a low opion of the few women on the roster that can actually wrestle?

Sorry I'm not contributing... no cable.

My fave summerslam memories are the surprise opponent Warrior beating Honky Tonk Man in 10 seconds for the IC belt and Mean Gene saying "F-ck it!!" when a backround fell during an interview... (I still have that one on tape)

Ok I am a little bored, not really bad just the first ppv I have seen for awhile since I don't get to watch wrestling as much anymore. I am actually looking forward to Booker/Rock-and Angle Austin. I just miss ECW.

Its pointless to have Ivory tagging with models anyway. She had to carry the whole match on Heat.

I agree. Let the models be models, don't force them to wrestle when they obviously have no in ring skills.

Taker and Kane dominate of course.
This cage match couldn't end fast enough for me. Another boring performance from team no sell.

For those that never watched WCW, DDP can actually wrestle and seeing him have to act like a totaly wimp is sickening.

BTW, from what I'm reading the Undertaker is planing on retiring next year and that and his injuries are the reason he refuses to lose a match. His refusal to job for anyone will probably keep him stuck down in the midcard though.

Angle by DQ
What a crappy finish to a great match. I guess the Austin vs Angle fued will continue.

Rock wins after another stupid finish. I guess it payed off the showboating by Booker T. Good crowd reaction for the Rock.

My reviews and thoughts.

Kurt 'Olympic hero' Angle V 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin
An excellent match, but the DQ finish was something I would expect from a match on Raw. Its obvious that Angle will be getting his revenge in coming weeks, maybe at the next PPV.

'People's Champ' the Rock V 'the Player' Booker T
An okay match, but I wasn't crazy about the finish. After watching Angle kick out of three stunners I think Booker T could of kicked out of one Rock Bottom. I hope this will be the end of the Booker T emulating the Rock angle and hopefully Booker will move on to something better for his future. He's much better as a face. I hope he breaks from the Alliance and since they will probably be on him Monday for losing it could be a good chance to turn him.

Taker/Kane V Diamond Dallas Page/Chris Kanyon
This match just plain sucked. Taker got his revenge and hopefully this whole Sara angle is over. Why DDP would want to stalk a skank like Sara when he has Kimberly at home I will never know.

Dudleys/Test V APA/Spike Dudley
Decent match not sure where they will go with the Dudley brothers next.

'The Whole ****in Show' RVD v Jeff Hardy (Ladder Match)
Match of the freakin' night. RVD has a bright future in the WWF. I expect him to get a big pop from the crowd on Monday.

Taijiri V 'The Suckey one' Xpac
Okay match. I hope the WWF uses all the Cruiserweight talent they have soon. There are some great matchups possible.

Lance Storm V Edge
So so match. Not much here to comment on.

Chris Jericho V Rhyno
Good match and it gave Jericho one up on Steph. I can't wait to see what Jericho has to say on Monday.

Overall a good Summerslam, but the ladder match and Angle really had to carry the night. I think the Alliance angle is dead. Its not interesting and all the interference to win matches is boring. Hopefully the McMahon's will come up with something soon. Using the WCW as nothing but jobbers is a waste of the money he spent buying it. He has got to find a way to put some life into the storyline.

I think the WCW should be broken up by their faces and heels and work with the WWF wrestlers instead of against them. I for one would like to see something like the Rock and Booker T tagging against someone like Stone Cold and HHH. I think its time to end the us versus them storyline.
