Cast Changes: Minor Gone, 3 On for Season 27
By Sean Bradley
With only two months to go until "Saturday Night Live" kicks off its 27th season, the cast line-up is quickly being arranged for the fall.
Last season's rookie, Jerry Minor, has reportedly not been asked back for a sophomore season. Minor, who impersonated Al Sharpton and played co-host Grand Master Rap on the recurring "Rap Street" sketch, is thus far the only casualty that has been announced.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, "SNL" is in final talks to hire 31 year-old Massachusetts-native Amy Poehler and Chicago comic Seth Meyers. Stand-up comedian Dean Edwards will also join the show as a featured player, Variety reported today.
An alum of ImprovOlympic, Poehler was a cast member on the Comedy Central series ''Upright Citizens Brigade" and appeared as a woman with Tourette's Syndrome in Rob Schneider's 1999 big-screen comedy ''Deuce Bigalow, Male Gigolo.''
Meyers has toured his two-person show ''Pick-Ups and Hiccups,'' with Jill Benjamin, throughout Chicago. The Chicago Tribune raved that "Pick-Ups" was "the funniest late-night show in town," and the Daily Herald said it "never fails to reduce an audience to tears."
Edwards has appeared on a number of comedy showcases over the past ten years, including Comedy Central's "Premium Blend," HBO's "Def Comedy Jam," and "It's Showtime at the Apollo." He's also done voice-over work, impersonating Spike Lee and Scottie Pippen for MTV's "Celebrity Deathmatch."

Sweet! Amy Poehler has been kick ass on Conan O'Brien for years. Glad to see she's getting some good work. I may have to start checking out SNL to see her.

Here I am trying to figure out who Jerry Minor is, wondering: "Is he the guy with the curly hair? No, I'm sure that guy is Bobby something. Besides, Kenan is the only one who plays Al Sharpton. Who IS this guy?" Then I get to the Amy Poehler thing and I'm thinking, "Back already? What about Parks & Recreation?" Then I see the date.

Haha, I stopped at the paragraph about Jerry Minor to look up who he was and everything I found said he was on SNL for the 2000-2001 season. So confusing! How this thread is "great for nostalgia" is a complete mystery to me, since it only got 5 replies originally and none of them were particularly memorable.
