Just a reminder for those of you out there that need to do some catching up. HBO is broadcasting The Sopranos from the beginning, the first episode, starting tonight at 7:00 C.S.T. I know I'll be tuning in...

I am watching as we speak. Gotta love HBO.

Ah yes, memories. And to think, it will only be about three years later that he is mugging people. Oh, allegedly I mean.

I actually am using my VCR for the first time in forever because of this rebroadcast. I hope to get them all on tape, but I have a feeling it's gonna be tough to remember every week. Might actually have to get a tattoo a la Memento to remind me every Sunday to fire up the VCR.

This does indeed bring back the memories. They are good ones to relive though...

I loved how Gandolfini is able to play the tough love mobster (when Christopher is threatening to go Hollywood on them and sell his screenplay of his life in the mob, and Tony puts him in his place, while also being able to show him who has his best interest), and the mobster who's in touch with his "familial" feelings (the ducks in his pool) in his talks with Dr. Melfi, and he breaks down and cries (loved that scene). I think this episode alone sold the series for me. You knew it wasn't going to be all goomba-mobster stories, but stories told with brutal sensitivities on display.

For all of you that are getting on the Soprano train, I think you all will enjoy the ride. I think I will find myself watching them all over again. What's interesting for me is watching the growth of Tony's kids (who do look really young in this first episode), and also knwoing what's in store for all the characters introduced in it.

Well, do to poor timing, I didn't catch it early on. My boyfriend has the first season on DVD. So, I've seen the first episode. I did tape it last night, though, so I can start from the get go.

I've got season 1 on DVD also and have watched the episodes numerous times . I'll start watching it when they get to the final episode of season 1 and beginning of season 2 .


Still a great show and i'm glad HBO is showing all the episodes in order it will help alot of people pick up so they wont be so lost .

...and Meadow's a$$ doesn't take up 2 zip codes. It is remarkable how much she ballooned btwn seasons 1 and 2.

Ummmmmmmm...the actress who plays her was battling anorexia in Season 1.

No wonder she has an eating disorder when people make fun of her for being a more narural weight. How very sad.

I did not know she was battling that. That is one tough disorder. I know of many people who have committed suicide or just died because their bodies could not handle it.

If it makes a difference, I can also say that the belly of Steve Schirripa, the guy who plays Bobby Baccala, has its own congressman.

Hmmmmmm...She was a nobody before the eating disorder, so I don't see how Sopranos fans such as myself could be the motivation for her having that disorder. She is an actress. I'm sure the motivation behind the "disorder" was to make her look more attractive to casting agents. Once she landed this great role (and the show took off), she was set so she no longer needed to keep the weight off. You can call it "battling anorexia" if you want, but I call it a career move that paid off.

i didn't have HBO until recently so I am pumped that they are showing the Sopranos from the beginning!

I think the comment that Jadzia was pointing to was your comment her ass "takes up two zip codes." I think she is very attractive and it never would occur to me that she would be considered "fat" by anybody. However, there are those people out there that make insensitive comments and who have an unrealistic view of what women should look like. I am sure many other people made comments to her or behind her back like you did and that can bring on the problem or only increase the problem. If you like waif-thin women, fine. But there is nothing wrong with this actress' ass and some people should learn some manners and get a dose of reality.

So what do all of the non-actors go through anorexia for? Did Mandy at the library become anorexic for a career move? Do high schoolers become anorexic as a career move? It's not as if actors are the only people prone to ridicule for their weight.

I'm sure it's a thrill to be 'anorexic,' a real blast. Any actor who gains a role due to their skeletal figure must rejoice that they 'made the decision' to go through the 'illness'. Hopefully you never have a 'daughter' or 'loved one' who goes through it -- whether it's a 'career move' or 'not'. They're in for fun if you carry that non-sensitive and cynical attitute toward 'it'.

I get digital cable installed in the morning specifically for The Sopranos. I saw season one on DVD, but missed out on seasons two and three.
Of course having the little extras like Skinemax( oh, to watch friday After Dark again! ), and BBC America is good too.

Choice or illness??? I'll say the former. She didn't seem to have a problem kicking the "problem" after she became entrenched as a star.

That's a bit 'presumptuous,' isn't it?

I'll tell you what -- Karen Carpenter was way hot during the two months prior to her death.
