My first time seeing it and WOW, what a great movie! No wonder it's considered one of the finest musicals. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Yeah, they sure don't make 'em like they used to. I got caught watching "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" again this weekend on TCM. I could watch TCM and AMC all day long.

amc used to be pretty good but i cant stand that they show commercials now even though they are before and after the movie. also, their new hosts are not particularly great either.

Charlie yeah this is also one of my fave musicals and I dont think much of the genre, dislike the Broadway Melody bit though imo its drags the film down
Oh does TCM have their logo on the top right hand side of the screen there?

I guess if its a good movie, it will draw people's attention over and over as the years go by. If its a thread about a good movie...

Anyway, Singing in the Rain is a great musical and not only because it has great songs but the story, set in Hollywood of the silent era as sound emerged, is very true. I was watching the Joan Crawford doc. on TCM this weekend and they talked about all the dialogue coaches in town and how everyone in the movies seemed to talk the same.
