THE MISTS OF AVALON on TNT

I think one of the best versions of the Arthurian legend was authored by Marion Zimmer Bradley in her epic novel, The Mists of Avalon.
On July 15 & 16 this will run as a miniseries on TNT. Many people with good credentials are involved in the production and the stars are topnotch: Anjelica Huston, Julianna Margulies and Joan Allen.
See http://alt.tnt.tv/movies/tntoriginals/mists/index.html
Although I know it cannot do everything the book did, I'm looking forward to seeing this. Anyone else interested?

I thought I'd give this thread a bump as we are getting close to the broadcast date.
There must be more people interested in seeing this.

I'm looking forward to this. Great cast. I haven't read the book, but have it. I'm hoping it will be good.

While you can never compare Tv adaptations to novels
I found this to be incredibly enjoyable I missed the first half griling for the family but what I saw was impressive.
Certainly an oasis in the desert of reality based tv

elektra, of course I have a replay, my dear!
I've had one for over a year now. I live and swear by it! It's one of my favorite pieces of electronics gear, EVER!

I haven't watched MoA yet, I'm waiting to have both parts ready and then I'll sit and watch it with a friend of mine. It should make for interesting discussion - she's read the book at least 3 times, and I've never read it, so it'll be cool to compare our views of the mini-series.
Hope everyone enjoyed it. We certainly need more fantasy novel adaptations on the big (or little) screen.

I too am waiting until both parts are recorded on my Tivo before watching it.
I have wanted to read the novel and after watching this, I may just have to do that so I can compare.
I hope that they do this justice with a proper dvd release.
If they can release other tv movies, why not this one. Especially since it looks to have a great cast.

I have to think that this will get the DVD treatment eventually. After watching the entire first 2 hrs in repeat I must say that there were a few moments that made me cringe, Lancelots and Guineveres introduction to Morgane for one. "I'm Lancelot, and this is my cousin Morgane, who are you?" The production values also looked really cheap in a couple of the outdoor shots. Overall however I was very pleased with how they handled it.

I saw the first part last night and I am quite impressed, particularly with the acting and the way the story draws you into the relationships and the intrigues. I read the book a long time ago and loved it but have forgotten a lot. It seems to be a worthy adaptation.
The production values are not going to be what they would be for an expensive theatrical production but they're reasonable for a TV miniseries.
Unfortunately I won't be able to watch the second half tonight as my wife and I are going to the White Sox/Brewers game (go Sox). We'll finish it Tuesday on TiVo.
For those who missed the first part, the entire show will be rerun Friday 7:00-11:00 pm and Saturday 11:00 am-3:00 pm (times are CDT).

I'm a bit disappointed. Part One wasn't god-awful, but the script was far shallower and clumsier than I'd hoped it would be...
Granted that any 3.3 hour version of the novel would have to be extremely streamlined, but they could still have done much better. It was saved from abject mediocrity by the strong cast. I'll definitely be watching Part Two, but I doubt I'll be interested in owning my own copy...

You mean the new-agey song with the female vocal? Sounded like either Enya or Loreena McKennitt to me...
There's a soundtrack CD at Amazon, but no individual track listings... I can get it off the ending credits tonight...
