I love South Park and i know so do others, alot others. Even tho i know kids watch it even tho its not targeted at kids, will it go down as one of the greatest, most original and innovative cartoons of all time? I think so.

No, I don't think it will. I think The Simpsons beat them to it and will probably outlive it. I think South Park will eventually find a place next to Beavis and Butthead in the "where are they now?" file.

And also the voice talent for the Simpsons is a hundred times better than SP. It's mainly just Matt & Trey using the same voice for various different charcters. The only quality actress they had has now shot herself!

The movie in my opinion is one of the best satires ever made and it has a proud place in my collection as being one of the most watched DVDs I have. Lots of people with taste still care for the show and find ourselves in stiches ever time we get the chance to watch a new episode. They are better than ever and the last two episodes bear that out.

Why did the movie turn you off the series? The movie is one of the best things they have ever done. I get the feeling you went into the movie with the wrong expectations? What did you expect from South Park when they have the chance to make an R-rated film?

it has nothing to do with the content.. but if I go to see an animated film, i expect there to be a couple funny parts.. and i dont remember laughing at all through it.. actually, i almost got up and walked out (when the movie started, we were in a packed theatre.. by the end, it was almost empty, so I wasnt the only one that felt like that)

As has already been said, "South Park" will go the way of "Beavis and Butthead." 5 years from now everyone will be asking "Where the hell is South Park? Why won't Comedy Central show it more?" while "The Simpsons" will be on 8 times a day. All three shows are great, but "The Simpsons" has more pop appeal. "South Park" will become a cult favorite just like "Beavis and Butthead" is, and people will sit around and talk about how genius is was.

I think that the show will end up like Beavis and Butthead, but not as much and will last longer than that show. It's much less of a 'fad' than B&B was IMO. While it may seem the SP writers are running out of ideas, it'll probably go on and on for qite a while. As for comparing it to the Simpsons, the Simpsons overall will forever remain unbeatable as the best animated sitcom ever, but I'd take South Park over the newer Simpsons episodes any day.

I guess in these politically correct times, people do not understand what a parody is anymore.

The movie turned me off to the series as well. I just now started watching it again. I thought they just went too far with the movie. It wasn't funny, it was "lets see how much offensive material we can pack into an hour and a half" type of thing. That, to me, isn't entertainment. One of the things I always liked about South Park was that they wern't afraid to push it a LITTLE bit, but still knew their place. The movie kinda blew that out of the water.

A nurse with a fetus attached to her head. Big Gay Al. The NAMBLA episode. The "chicken f*cker" episode.
South Park has always been groundbreaking because there is nothing sacred in its world. Everybody and everything is up for parody and shredding. As far as I have seen, the show has ALWAYS been about pushing it as far as it could go. Nothing sacred, nothing too nasty to touch, that kind of thing.
It's kind of funny because the only real difference between the movie and the series was the language and that is exactly what the reaction to "naughty" language is exactly what the movie was doing a parody of.
