When I was a lad, two of my absolute favorite shows were "Batman" and "Get Smart". I would plan my day around them. I was watching "Batman - The Movie" when Reagan was shot and I was livid that they would interrupt my show with something as insignificant as as assassination attempt! Time marched on and I didn't see either show for many years. Then announcements were made that "Get Smart" was coming to TV Land and "Batman" was going to be shown on the Sci-Fi Channel! Hurrah! Well, both shows have been on for some time now, and I have been unable to stomach more than 5 minutes of either one, even after many tries. Chalk up another two shows from my childhood that are dead to me now.

While I too could not handle Batman now, I would be watching Get Smart all the time if I had TV Land. Of course it is always fun to make fun of shows like Batman.

I find that Get Smart is holding up OK--but then again, I'm only watching every once in a while, and I haven't seen these re-runs for almost 30 years... Campy like Batman, but a little more absurdist as well...

Get Smart is not as funny as it was when I was kid. God, I too was really excited. I guess just the nostalgia of watching a show when you did not realize who campy it was. I did watch the marathon. I enjoyed most of them. But I was not glued to it as much as I had been when I was a kid.
Oh well. I do catch some of the episdoes I did not watch when the marathon was on.
