Acting or not, I like Shatner more than Stewart in terms of personality. Stewart always seems to project a formality and I always liked the derring-do manner in Shatner's approach to the Kirk character.

Funny, I've met both and Shatner was very stand-off-ish, not approachable, where Stewart was 100% down to earth and friendly. If you're referring more to the characters than the people, then Picard is much more distant than Kirk.
I didn't watch the Voyager season finale, but one of my co-workers did. He stuck with the show all this time. He said that it sucked big time and that it was totally lame and if these are the same folks producing the new show, he's got his doubts. I can't comment because I didn't bother to watch. But bringing us back to topic, maybe you can see why I'm not overly optimistic.

ALL STAR TREK FINALES SUCK!!!
ANYONE REMEMBER DEEP SPACE 9's???
What a bunch of hooey...
THE FANS COULD PROBABLY DO A BETTER JOB OF GIVING A GREAT FINALE. BATTER THAN THE ARROGANT,LAZY, AND OUT OF TOUCH WRITERS ON THE LAST 3 TREK SHOWS.

Stewart's acting raised the bar.

Again, I will say it....
VOLUNTARY OR AT WILL TIME TRAVEL IS THE CRACK COCAINE OF STAR TREK WRITERS!!!!
With that said.
How soon do you guys think it will be before someone from one of the last three shows(TNG, DS9 or VOYAGER) zaps back in time to visit the new characters in ENTERPRISE?
I figure 2nd season. Because they will no doubt need to "enhance" their ratings at that point.
Any takers?

for sure, assuming this show makes it two seasons...
it just looks crummy to me. [/B][/QUOTE]
How can you say it "looks crummy" without having SEEN anything. All any of us have done is read some character bios and a brief synaposis of the first episode. So please explain why it looks crummy. Enterprise will make it to the traditional 7 year ending, no doubt about it.

Of course it will make it to seven years. Doesn't matter if the show sucks or not, they will continue to make it, unless someone has the heart to cancel it, should it be bad.
Robo - I think you've covered why I have my doubts, eh? Too bad they won't get a different creative team in there.

I'm gonna go with the great great great great (insert appropriate number of greats here) grandmother of Captain Janeway will put in an appearance in the first episode, and be played be.... Kate Mulgrew. If you look at all of the opening episodes of all of the series since the original, a cast member from one of the other series has made an appearance on the first episode of the new series.

while i am a trek addict and will watch the new series with enthusiasm, i think i would have rather seen something much different from the norm (i.e. ds9). how about star trek: section 31 (for those of you who don't know section 31 was a secret federation agency that "didn't exist" and that did all the bad things that the federation is against (kinda like the cia or nsa))? or maybe feature a different species this time, star trek: klingon (i like gratuitous violence). i'm just a little worried that we'll see a rehash of tos storylines. plus its just going to create an ungodly amount of discrepencies in the timeline.
