I know Chris Benoit is one of them, but if anyone remembers Mil Mascaras was sure my pick.

Technical Wrestling was huge in the 80's back when guys like Gordon Solie used to call each and every move. I remember when matches would involve tons of chain wrestling and holds and reversals. I can't even think of the last time I saw a side headlock. I would pick Chris Benoit as my choice among the people wrestling today. The greats of the past are too numerous to mention.

If Chris Benoit had an ounce of charisma, he'd be the biggest star in wrestling today.

Mil Mascaras was all hype, and a narcissistic butthead to boot. He was only marginally talented at best, certainly not as much as the Apter mags made him out to be. He couldn't hold a candle to El Santo in terms of talent and popularity.

While I agree with the choice of Benoit, I think a good case could be made for Dean Malenko. Of course, his size limits the type of push he can get (see: Tazz) but he's put on some pretty good matches when he's given a 1v1 singles match and more than 2-3 minutes to go at it.

Right now I think the best technical wrestler is Chris Benoit. You have to admit though, he has improved 100% on the mic since he left WCW. But, I think the best of all time has to be The Dynamite Kid. If you can, find some tapes of him in action, especially his matches with Tiger Mask, they will amaze you. Of course (to quote Dennis Miller) this just my opinion, I could be wrong.

The only reason why Benoit is better on the mic is because the creative team is spoon feeding him his mic work. If he gets off track a little bit we see the Benoit of old. But I do think that Benoit is quite possibly the best out there right now, Malenko makes a great case for it, but benoit is bigger, and in my opinion more athletic which then makes him better. Malenko I think can do more moves at least that I have seen. If he wanted he could work 3-4 very long matches and they could be all completely different as far as moves used, but his size does hurt him. A little off topic, but isn't there too many wrestling topics in the TV forum like the Flair poll, and this one especially since we can go back way before these guys were on tv on a regualr basis, and I think that these should be in the other, and we should only have the PPV, and Raw threads that we have had each week, because those are actually about the TV show. Just a thought good thread either way.

Benoit is the best technical wrestler out there right now. If somehow we could morph the charisma of Chris Jericho with Benoit's technical skills, you would have your best wrestler and showman around probably. The WWF desperately needs to raise Jericho and Benoit into the Main Event...they are losing ratings points with Austin heel and the relatively boring grudge between HHH/Austin and Taker/Kane.

I remember several years ago Doink the Clown was one of my favorite wrestlers. I'm not saying he was the most technical ever, but it was always a riot to hear the announcers praising the wrestling skill of a guy in a clown suit!

No doubt it's gotta be Chris Benoit. He's the second coming of the Hitman. Right now Benoit has got it all. He's one of the few wrestlers out there that can make it soley based on wrestling skills and not just catchphrases.

I think RVD is the most athletic wrestler around, but I think Benoit edges him in technical ability.

RVD is a sheer joy to watch. He say he's just "spots" now but it still entertaining. Like he says "He's the whole f'n show".

Mark another one up to Kurt Angle...just to be different. Benoit is awesome but he doesn't have a gold medal to show for it.

I got to see the Vanterminator from 6 rows back, and earlier in the match RVD landed right in front of me his legs were monstrous.

Malenko still has it

After all these years Malenko is still the best technical wrestler in the game. He doesnt hav Benoit's physical strenght or Angle's charisma, bu he still has the ability to counter and chain any wrestling move. If you need further proof, check out the Eddie/Dean farewell match on the ECW DVD, that match is just ONE example of many tha prove he is truly the man of 1000 holds.
