Need help with line spacing in Word

I am using Microsoft Word 2007 and I am trying to make a list of stuff. However, Word (as most Microsoft products) seems to have a mind of it's own when it comes to the spacing of the lines. I had opened a new document and started typing. I noticed that all of the lines seemed to be double spaced (which I didn't want). I got my list done, which has about 5 sections. I noticed that ONE of my lines doesn't seem to be double spaced. So I started to try and find out what setting made that line different. I couldn't find it. I tried changing the Spacing setting under Paragraph, but that just modified all of the lines and they stayed the same spacing. I have included two pics (and yes I know the word "header" is misspelled, but that won't stop those of you who didn't read this, he he) to show the spacing issue I'm talking about. I would like to remove the extra space below "Entry #2".

Thanks.

Ugh, I remember this. Stupid MS. Not sure how I fixed it. I think it's in the Manage Styles - button on bottom right.

I'm using 2010, but 2007 should look very similar if I'm not mistaken.

Highlight EVERYTHING (or just Entry #2), and select the "No Spacing" icon seen in this pic:

THANK YOU Something. Now I can finally format this thing. Anyone know why MS does this on it's own?

Trying to be helpful.

"It looks like you're writing a list. Would you like extra spaces?"

No problem.

MS does a lot of weird things for weird reasons. They usually say something like, "our usage data tells us that most users do X instead of Y," and they're usually wrong.

Ok, here's a question. Do you know how to reset the spacing while keeping the colors the same? I have 4 colors I am using in my lists, Black, Red, Green and Purple. Some of them keep the colors, some of them get changed to all Black when I click the No Spacing

That, I haven't figured out myself (never bothered...)
I usually just hit the "No Spacing" button, then I'll go and manually change the colours afterward.

Not a problem, that's what I ended up doing. Thanks

Re: Need help with line spacing in Word

OK, so I had some time to check how I got it set for default single spacing.

Home button > change styles (top right) > style set > select Word 2003. Set as default.

Spacing should then work just like Word 2003.
