Well, they're not really all that different...

Roller Coaster Tycoon is basically a clone, with enhancements, of the first Theme Park game. Right down to the menus, dialog buttons, and many of the options in the game.

Sim Theme Park is the second Theme Park game...it has many of the options of the original, but adds 3D (the first Theme Park was 2D, and so is Roller Coaster Tycoon) and it also has some differences is the "big picture" behind the game...RCT emphasizes the business simulation (just like the original Theme Park) but the second Theme Park got away from that.

I guess more people liked the business sim than they realized, because the next Theme Park game will have it back in, but enhanced (some sort of career mode).

Right now, both Roller Coaster Tycoon and Sim Theme Park sell for about $19.00, so you can't go wrong with either one.

I have had Roller Coaster Tycoon for a long time and I think that it is great. I have always liked the Sim type games and this is definitely my favorite simulation type game out there. I decided to get Roller Coaster Tycoon and have never regretted it.

I prefer RCT over Sim Theme Park. I also bought the Loopy Landscapes expansion for it (which includes Corkscrew Follies).

Great game! Very addicting!
