On LTE? Without it you could always just go Page Plus. Verizon: 3G Everywhere! But it's super, super slow 3G!

No thanks. I will not pay $200 to buy someone's unlimited account on ebay to get service from a company that is in the business of slowly screwing its customers.

I don't believe that they offer 4GLTE unlimited on any new plan. But unlimited 3g on select devices.I thought that page plus didn't have an unlimited data plan?

You're right, I haven't used them in a little while and I guess they've gotten rid of it.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....

The reviews seem to be about as expected, same comments about plasticy body, "features" that are a bit of a gimmick, low-light camera not so good. The One seems to excel in these areas. The S4 has the removable battery and sd card, and all 3 reviews indicate that the S4 got better battery life than the One, which was to be expected. The brightness of the S4 is a concern to me, my S3 and Note 2 aren't that bright in direct sunlight, the One should be better in that regard.

My S3's battery life has been shit lately. it lost 40% battery in 4 hours while in my pocket at work and functioning as my watch.

Something is certainly wrong. Try to use gsam to see what is eating up the battery

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....

I was Googling around and it's something to do with CM10.1 that's supposedly fixed with a data/cache wipe. I just hate wiping my data.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....

You could just clear cache and dalvik cache first to see if it makes a difference

Rumors that there's going to be an Android 4.3 that's still Jelly Bean, instead of Key Lime Pie next month at Google IO.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....

My Galaxy S4s should arrive today. My wife is going from a VERY old flip phone to the S4 and I am upgrading from my Droid Bionic. I was hoping that the Jelly Bean update I received a week or so ago would help extend my phone's life but it seemed to cause more problems than it solved. I don't really blame the Jelly Bean update but I believe that they felt pressure to update a phone that maybe really shouldn't of been updated.

While I am very excited to try the S4 I know that trying to get my wife accustomed to a smartphone is going to be the death of me. I just need to pick a few apps that will really make her life easier and go smoother. I also ordered a bunch of NFC tags so I am hoping that once I program them and place them about it will help her activate certain tasks and activities much easier.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....

Depending on what you are doing, Tasker may be more automated. For example, I set it to turn on WiFi when I get home, when I leave home, it turns off Wifi. When I get to work, it turns off ringer, when I leave work, it turns the ringer on again. At night, it turns off wifi and mobile data and turns it on again in the morning. It turns the screen to full Brightness and volume when I open netflix and returns to normal after I exit netflix.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....

I found NFC tags to be much easier to program and use than Tasker, personally.

Tasker has a steep learning curve, but once set up, you can forget about it. Don't need to do anything , it is more convenient to me. The thing i don't like about nfc tags is that you have to have the screen on, won't work even on the lock screen

Hopefully not the original Samsung Tectile tags...

How do you set it to recognize when you get to work or arrive home? Is it based on location or based on time of day?

you can do either, but i do it by location. you can also set a radius. If you are using GPS, then it's pretty accurate. If not, then you will need to set a wider radius, maybe a mile, depending. Tasker will give you a suggested radius, and you can adjust if you like.

for example, for work, i set it when i get to work to turn off the ringer. Then, i set the exit task to turn on the ringer.

I did use NFC tags before, and it does work, but once in a great while, i will forget to tap the NFC tag, and by boss has warned us several times to make sure the phone is on vibrate, so i would rather not take the chance of me forgetting.
