TurboTax versus TaxCut

I'm a long time TurboTax user (used TaxCut over 7 years ago) but Deluxe TT is $45 at BB and TC Premium is $35 and BB throws in a Free DVD for your trouble. Is it time to switch?

I've used both, and while I find Turbo Tax slightly easier to use, they both end up with the same result for me, and Tax Cut is cheaper.

If anyone has a policy with State Farm they are offering free Turbo Tax filing again this year. If you log onto your account online you will see the link. You can use the online version or download the program. I used Turbo Tax for the first time last year and liked it a lot.

I use freetaxusa.com. Its not free for me but its a great site..

I've thought about using Turbo tax because of the statefarm thing, but I would really hate to re-enter all of my ingormation. Freetaxusa save most of the data from previous years.

My Dad lets me use his copy of TurboTax....however, I do have State Farm, would I be more beneficial just using this or is it the same program that you would buy at the store?

I like the idea of FREE e-filing to save some cash via State Farm

one year i tried to do my taxes with both and taxcut missed a bunch of deductions or they were very hard to find. don't care how much TT is, the tax savings are worth it

So does anyone have any other bad experiences with TaxCut?

Can you import last years TurboTax info into Taxcut? (not likely, I suppose)

I used Taxcut last year and didn't have any trouble importing my previous year's TurboTax info. I'm using Taxcut again this year, though I haven't started yet.

Word of warning. They will return your electronic filing if your line for federal income tax withheld has any cents. Make sure to round it off. I used Taxact and their software did not catch this causing me to have to file again after it was rejected by the IRS.

Taxcut has worked fine for me the last three years, and I'm using it again this year.

Never had any issues.

In 5 years of turbo tax use I've never had the software print a return that wasn't rounded to the nearest dollar.

We tried the online deluxe version of turbotax for the first time today since my W2 came in and it felt just like using the cd version. Very nice.
