Need help connecting camera to PC

I have a Panasonic PV-DV910 palmcorder. I am trying to connect it via firewire to my PC. However, it is saying that no camera is found. I even bought and installed a new FireWire card, nothing. I seem to remember a while back just after XP came out that alot of people were having trouble connecting their cameras to it. I am running XP Pro, is there any driver I can download to get the camera to work?

The computer won't find the camera if the camera is not powered on - something small, but had me stumped for about 1 minute when my computer with XP-Pro failed to find my camera. Then I powered on the camera and XP found it immediately.

connect the camera, turn it on and then open MS Moviemaker and try to import video

and make sure you have it on the right setting since a lot of them have different settings for taking pictures, video and hooking it up to a PC to transfer pictures

Well, I've been using Adobe Premiere, but I'll give MS Moviemaker a try.

Is there another system or a friend's computer that you can test the camera with to make sure it picks up ok?

Well, I was able to connect it to my laptop (which is running XP Home). However, I cannot find my Firewire PCMCIA card right now.

EDIT: I was able to connect it to my laptop about 6 months ago, and it worked... there, that's a bit more informative.
