Need help on a new laptop computer!!

I need to get a new laptop and I'm not sure what to get. I havn't looked for computers in a long time and I am really behind on technology. I don't do anything special with my computer, I just goof off on the internet and other basic operations. What should I be looking for in a computer? I don't want to spend a lot, but I also don't want to have to upgrade for awhile.

Difficult to answer your question because there are so many choices, new and used.

Simplify your quest by calling one of the major companies such as Dell. Talk to their sales department giving them your budget and your needs. They can tell you the best for the money. FYI, last time I configured a unit then called Dell they actually configured a better system for less money.

Stay away from the stuff sold at places like WalMart. You usually have to pay extra to keep the software working.

About the only suggestion I would offer is to request the best WiFi adapter they offer. You'll like that.

Well if you truly aren't doing anything except for surfing the net and goofing around, then pretty much most laptops these days will work just fine for you. I'd recommend a Dell and look around on their page. A good one can be had for about $1000, but since you're not doing much you can probably configure any of their $600-700 ones.

the most important question you havent answered is....

will this be portable or is it a desktop replacement that will sit in the same spot all the time?
