How Do You Upload Videos Into Ipod ?

I want to upload some videos into my video ipod.
The format of the videos are either .mov or wmv.

Do they have to be converted first ?
If so to what type of file and what software can do it ?

Thanks.

I just put a .mov file into iTunes and then in the right click menu there is an option to convert to iPod.

edited to add: It worked! I can't say if it will work with other formats, but with .mov files iTunes will convert!

Just got my 80gb Classic the other day and started loading it with videos. This looks like a good piece of free software:

Yeah, I just put the video into my videos folder, then used iTunes to import the file (add file from folder I believe). Once it was in the video list I just right clicked on that video and it gave me the option to convert to iPod.

If you let iTunes manage your files, then you should be able to just drag-and-drop video files right into iTunes (like you can with music files), either into the Library or directly into a playlist. If it doesn't drop, then it isn't a directly supported format and you'll need to use something to translate it first (like ffmpegx or videora).

At least, this is the way the Mac version works.
