Cannot turn on screen savers

Like above. When I right click the desktop and click the tab to change the screensaver, it is locked out and cannot be changed. Normally, you can click the the screensaver window and then change the screensaver but I cannot do that as it is locked out.

The down arrow that you need to click to change the screensaver is disabled.

Running Windows XP

Are you sure that you have some screensavers installed on your system?

Did this just happen? Are you on a work machine where there may be a policy disabling them?

The down arrow that you need to click to change the screensaver is disabled.

Running Windows XP
Start > Run > regedit

Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop

Check to see if a SCRNSAVE.EXE key is created.

If not, right click > new > string value

and name it SCRNSAVE.EXE

Modify the data to point to your screen saver's file location.

The Windows default screen savers are in the C:\WINDOWS\system32\ directory with a .scr extension.

feenst, thanks. I did that but how do I modify the data to point to the file location? The only thing I get when I click "Modify" is a small window with an area to put, I think, number 1 or 0 like the values for the other keys. Do I just type c:\windows\system32...?

Yeah, you should just be able to type in the name of the file.
