Compaq Presario Battery Dead

Hey all,

I was bummed to find that my two-year-old Compaq Presario R3140US just missed the specs to fall under the recall!

My battery after being fully charged will only last about 10 minutes. I used to be able to disable the autoshutdown and it would stay on a bit longer because the meter was off, but now there's nothing I can do to make it last.

Is there any way to physically recondition the battery? I have drained and charged several times to try -- but nothing worked.

If there's no hope, what's the best NON-OEM battery to use? i am assumming that an aftermarket battery will be better than an HP/Compaq replacement -- not to mention, cheaper...
