Any digital camera experts in the house? I need some help, please.

I own the Nikon Coolpix 5700 digital camera. I haven't used the camera in several months, but today when I turned the camera on I no longer get any image in the viewfinder/display. It's just a black image. I checked the user guide and it only says (a) make sure the lens cap is off, and (b) make sure the battery is properly inserted. Well, as for "a," I'm not a moron. As for "b," the battery is properly inserted and I'm able to see the menu screens. I can scroll through the menus, change the settings, etc. It's just that I can't see any image when I look through the viewfinder/display.

Does anybody have any suggestions for things I can try to fix this, or is this a major problem?

Thanks in advance.

Well you can try to make sure that the memory card is inserted properly. Also maybe try resetting the camera by pulling the battery for several minutes.

Also check this link, good luck

Thanks for that link!! That seems to be the exact problem and, fortunately, it's related to a recall on the CCD and Nikon will apparently fix this for free. What a relief!!!

Thank you!!!
