Weird problem with my Notebook DVD drive!

Hello,

I have a Gateway 3215. The DVD drive seems to work perfect with all of my movies. But when I tried to watch the spanish DVD of "The Others" which has a high bit rate image quality, the film started to run slow and the image has delays and cuts etc..

I tried everything with the players and codecs but nothing worked. The trouble seemd at worst in those scenes with heavy compression like the fog scenes etc... The Disk is clean and it ran without a probem on my other Toshiba notebook and my Desktop PC.

removed section that could get this closed So I believe the problem is that y dvd drive can't pass the data fast enough for heavy movies like this one.

My question is; can I do something about it? Is there a firmware that can fix this or anything that may increase my DVD drive transfer rate? It is a TSST Corp CDW/DVD TS-L462c

Thanks.

No, it was in reference to your having posted a computer question in the DVD & Home Theater Gear Forum.

You should make sure DMA is enabled for your DVD-ROM. You'll find that in the Device Manager -> IDE properties.
