Best Dvd Media For Nec 3500a 16x Burner?

Was wondering what anyone knew about blank media that works best or well with the NEC 3500A burner and where the best deals are for blank DVD-+R Media. Trying to back up my 640GB of files from my HD. THanks

I buy Ritek. There are about $30 for a 50 pack. I have had no coasters after over 200 discs. Try www.newegg.com for prices.

I just Fuji 8X media without a problem. For some reason it will not burn faster then 8X. Are you have any luck? I picked up the same bruner about two weeks ago for $61.00 and it rocks. Just no luck burning at higher then 8X.

Why would you try to burn 8X media faster than 8X?

I burn fuji 4x all day long at 8X w/o any problems.

I tried all different types of media just to see how fast the burner will burn. For some reason it will not burn faster then 8X no matter what media I use. Over at vcdhelp.com they talked about this some. Even though its a 16X burner it will only burn on 8X.

I picked up a 25pk of Fuji at Staples last week for $9.99 and Best Buy has them for $12.99 -R or +R.

+ with DVD-ROM bitsetting. It makes the disc look like it's a commercial disc to the player.

Only a few brands of burners can do that bitsetting. I have one now (NEC) and the compatibility with even old players is impressive.

No, I have a 2500a that I flashed to be a 2510a. I usually use Nero or Easy CD Creator for burning files and I'll use the built-in burning software from programs such as Ulead VideoStudio when I'm editing video.

BTW, this week Best Buy has the 8x Fuji +R and -R for $20 for a 50 pack. The thing that's so good about this deal is that if you make sure you buy the ones made in Japan you get Taiyo Yuden discs which are about the best you can get.

i also have a nec 3500 bought from new egg. love it so far, but i hear the ritek 8x (G05) discs arent' as reliable as the ritek 4x media (G04). at least that's what i've read on dvdrhelp.com

supermediastore.com was recommended to me last year on this forum and i have been buying riteks from them ever since. they ship the same day when i placed the order and i usually get it the next day on ups standard ground (nice bonus).
got a 100pack ritek dvd-r 4x for $49 shipped.
