Anyone else having trouble accessing Windows Update?

I can't get Windows Update to load. I am using the link through Windows which goes to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com

Anyone else having any trouble? This has been going on for nearly a day.

Did you upgrade to XP SP2 by any chance? Are you using Reget Deluxe as your download manager? I had problems with WU after updating to SP2. I finally determined that Reget's "ClickCatcher" ActiveX control was the culprit. Once I disabled it in IE under Tools | Manage Addons (this is new to SP2), WU worked fine.

OK, the link 68ShelbyGT500KR (Damn that's a long name) worked. Thanks!

However, using the Windows Update link through the Start Menu or IE doesn't work. It pulls up windowsupdate.microsoft.com and that gives a DNS error.

windowsupdate.microsoft.com should just redirect to the appropriate site for your OS and AU version (that's how it is designed to work). Did you actually make sure you could run a scan for new components once you went to the v5 site? When I was having the problem I mention above, I also could not get to WU via windowsupdate.microsoft.com but could by going straight to v5. However, the v5 site didn't actually work until I disabled the Reget ClickCatcher, at which point the main WU link began working as well.
