Can I convert .AVI files to .MPEG/.MPG files?

I want to create a Video CD of some video I took from my camera, but my version of Roxio only will do it with MPEG files. Apparently mine are AVI files or something so it won't do it.

Any suggestions?

AVICodec
or
GSpot

These should show what type of video file you have exactly.

then travel to

You should use VirtualDub MP3 freeze to check for bad frames in an avi file
If they exist, then you must fix the bad frames, otherwise your video/audio will go out of sync!

AVI2VCD can do the conversion

Look at the tools section to download:

Make sure you have the correct codec installed on your comp!

Also check out TMPEGenc. It will create VCD compatible .mpg files from most .AVI sources.
