Anyone use programs similar to Adaware?

I have the freebie version of Lavasoft's Adaware. It works well, but they seem to take forever to release updates for the free version. They've been stuck on build 6.181 for quite some time, and I'm pretty sure it's outdated. Anyone else have suggestions for similar freebie programs that work better? TIA

Make sure you're using Spybot 1.3 (I don't think 1.2 gets updates anymore).

Wabio,
you may already know this...if so, I apologize in advance. You mention that Adaware is still on version 6.181 and that they haven't provided updates. This is different then the updates to the definition files, which is what will really keep your PC up-to-date. You can scan for updates from Adaware and as mentioned above, there appears to be definition file updates nearly weekly. Make sure that you are updating your definitions regularly. Similarly in Spybot, there is a place for checking for recent definition updates.

I've also found Ad-Aware to be pretty regular with the pattern file updates to the main program. It works fairly well in sniffing out and removing spyware.

Another program to take a look at in addition to Spybot would be Pest Patrol.
