What does the blue screen say? Is it just blank?

Oh, I've had that issue before. It's nothing too horrible. Just submerge your Playstation 2 in warm milk for about two hours.

Don't do that! The PS2 is lactose intolerant.

Dude, the PS2 is horrible for playing DVD's. On mine the picture rolls. Just invest in something else, even a Cyberhome ($29 at Best Buy).

Seriously, the PS2 is really bad for playing DVD's.

Yeah - any fool knows that you submerge the X-Box in milk. The Playstation will only work if you dunk it in maple surup.

Do you have it hooked through a VCR...that would be macrovision if you do. Call Sony, complain enough and they might send you and upgraded player. They did for me.

Then you have a problem with your particular machine or somewhere in your setup. My PS2 has been playing DVDs just fine since I bought mine on the first day the PS2's were released. I'm not advocating the PS2 as the best DVD player one can own, but it's also incorrect to dismiss it as a "really bad" player when it's not.

PS2 isn't a really bad player, it's just not a really good one. I've used mine off and on with little complaint over the years. The main thing that irks me about the PS2 as a DVD player is the remote. Aside from making the buttons out of jell-o and requring it to be alligator clipped to a car battery, I don't know how you could make it worse.

*Somewhere a Sony PS2 designer furiously rips up his sketches for the new PS2 remote control and goes back to the drawing board*
