I can't get my cuecat to work with DVD Profiler..

It won't scan anything for that matter. It is an unmodded PS2 cuecat that was still sealed in its wrapper. I installed catnip as well as DVDProfiler 2.2 that is supposed to have upc scanning software built in. Help!!!

Regarding the cuecat, I've found that it's less hassle and sometimes quicker to just type in the upc. Doesn't answer your question, but it might just save you some time.

I read somewhere that the cuecat had to be sodered or something. If you google cuecat you should find some old specs on how to do this.

Otherwise you will have to type in the UPC.

I use the CueCat unmodded with no problem. Mine is USB, though.

The version of CatNip I am currently using is 1.5, I have no idea what the latest version is.

Do you have the keyboard plugged into it ? There is a whole thread over on the profiler page on this.

I'm using an unmodded PS2 CueCat with CatNip 1.5. Works great with DVDProfiler and Guzzlefish. Here are my notes:

Thanks for the replies!! I am using my laptop with my cuecat and did not have an external keyboard hooked up. That did the trick. I was flying through my collection in no time once I hooked an old keyboard up. It really is much easier than entering the numbers in by hand, esspecially if you have a really large collection. I picked mine up on Ebay for 10 bucks shipped.

LOL...people paying for cuecats...maybe they could have stayed in business if they sold them for $10/each Mine's still sitting somewhere and when I have the chance, it'll be busted out once again to put my collection into a program. I just haven't had time.

I had no idea you could use a cuecat for such purposes. Amazing. Simply amazing. The underground world of cuecat.

Sorry to resucitate without adding much.

I "neutered" mine and it works great with DVDprofiler. I had to open it up and clip a pin soldered on a board. Do a google search if you want to try that, it was easy and I dont have to run any software to decode the output.

I rarely use it except at times like Xmas when I have 10 or more DVD's to enter other wise its just faster to type them in.

neutered mine, and it works great. i only use it to scan when i have a bunch of dvds. you shouldn't have to neuter it though...it should work fine with the catnip program

Anyone know where Catnip can be downloaded? Seems the site that hosted it is no longer in existence, or, if someone could e-mail it to me, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks! After searching google for a while, I found this page:

http://www.cedmagic.com/cuecat/cuecat.html

Worked like a charm.

FWIW,

DVD Profiler has built-in support for unmodded CueCats (i.e. no need to use Catnip). Just click "Plugins | Barcode Scanner | Scan" to the right of the UPC text box in DVD Profiler's "Add DVDs" dialog box. Scan away.

Yeah - I actually just saw that, but when entering quite a few discs, it's a pain to go through all those motions.
