Questions about my PC and new games

I have a 900MHz PC with 256MB DDR RAM. I tried installing NFS Hot Pursuit 2 & Vice City and both failed on me. I have a feeling that I should upgrade my video card to a GeForce 4. I currently have an older ATI All In Wonder, which has like 16 MB or something. So is my guess correct or should I just shell 300 - 400 dollars and get a newer PC?

do you have directx9 installed?

for vice city, it requires a 32mb geforce.

hot pursuit 2 requires a 32mb card

how much do you want to spend? the geforce 4 ti4200 is around $100, and should be fine for those games.

vice city is out? sweet
if vice city has requirements similar to regular GTA3 I'd just upgrade the video card
I have a P3 500 with 256mb ram and a 64mb geforce 2 Ti and gta3 ran fine, I'd expect vice city to run similarly

Yes, indeed! GTA VC came out last week.

Dang, GTA ran fine on that system? I have the Dell 4450 w/ a P4 2.53Ghz, 256 333Mhz DDR RAM, and the GEForce420 w/ 64MB RAM. Is that going to be sufficient for GTA VC? This is the first PC game I'm going to buy in a very long time so I wanna be sure too.

Ranger: yes, it should work, but the gf4 mx is weak for gaming.

i just got a geforce4 ti4200 a few days ago and can highly recommend this card--it's so much better than the mx series or the tnt2 that was previously in this box. i've actually been playing games, which i haven't done in a long time. ut2003 is pretty cool.

i got it refurbished @ newegg, $88 shipped. the box had been opened, but it was in perfect condition. i was a bit nervous that i'd get a dud, but i'd definitely order a refurb card from them again. if you keep an eye on their stock, you can sometimes find a real deal. Newegg Refurb video cards

I think with a lot of games now, and why they still run on my 4 year old system, the video card is the main thing to worry about. I think I had all but one setting set on max for gta3, and the one that wasn't was at the second to highest level
