Need a motherboard recommendation for a XP1600+

I want a mobo for my XP1600+.

I'd like to keep it under $60 if possible. I know I'm cheap. Been looking at the ECS K7S5A SIS 735, $55 at newegg.

I already have DDR, video, sound, and nic so the onboard sound and nic for this board really isn't necessary but the price is right.

Thanks

I have the ECS K7S5A mobo and it's been working okay with my 1.4 GHz Duron. The on board audio is really crappy but since you already have a separate sound card, this is not a factor.

The potential downsides might be:
1. Only 2 slots for RAM (either DDR SDRAM or 3.3V SDRAM but not both at same time).
2. It doesn't have built in USB 2.0 (you can add via PCI slots I guess).
3. Only 2 IDE interfaces / no RAID.

These may not affect you in any way. Just listing them as POTENTIAL downsides.

well for the price it's fitting for me.

I currently only have 2hdd and 1 cdburner so that's not a problem. Same as my current board.
what about a cooler. what do you use namja

Current computer: I have 2 HDD, DVD, CD-RW. The ZIP just sits there not connected to the mobo. As for the fan, I bought a cheap cooler master fan for like $10 including shipping.

Anyway, I'm building a new computer right now. I bought a SOYO SY-KT333 DRAGON Ultra (Platinum) and an Athlon XP 1700+ from newegg ...

I also have an ECS K7S5A and am running a XP1700+. The board has been good to me so far. It has been running for almost a year now with no problems.

Just my 2 cents, YMMV.

Later,

Jamie

That's a great budget system. I'm looking at something like that to tie me over to the next "level" ... although i'm looking at an aluminum case with window (blue preferably) .... the Chieftec Turbo Gamer specifically.

Yea I think I made out pretty good considering.

I mean it'll be a significant upgrade over my [email protected] and 256meg SDRam. That even at the present suits me fine till I want to play a game every now and then. Here lately the games have gotten a bit sluggish. But other than that it's a great PC.
