Windows XP and MS Office 2000 compaitibility question

Hi-

I'm looking to get a new computer but would rather not upgrade to pay extra for office 2002. I have a copy of Office 2000 that I would "transfer" from my old computer (OS is Win 98), should I expect any compatibility issues? What about Office 97, is it compatible with Win XP?

Thanks!

how would you "transfer" the Office software to your new PC from your old one? Do you have the CD with the full version? It should work if you install it completely (i.e using the setup from the CD).

Yah, I have the CD with the full version. . .the 'transfer' was just a sideways comment because the liscense is for 1 computer.

So Office 2000 will work on Win XP?

If you have the CD and it doesn't have to be activated (be sure on that) then it should run setup and install it w/o any problems. But I really can't be sure since I don't use win xp.

Office 97 or Office 2000 will run fine in XP.

FYI, I had this same question and called Microsoft before buying my new laptop...They confirmed the above..

Wound up getting Win2K and got office XP (instead of WinXP and office 2000) from work. Oh well.

Work also gave me WinXP Pro in case I want to upgrade.

Just another comment that it works without a problem at all - running WinXP Pro w/Office 2000 Premium, no prob.

I don't see a reason why it wouldn't. Office 2000 will work in XP professional.
