Cable Modem and Free Cable Question?

When we moved into our home last year we found that we were recieving free cable TV. I want to get Cable internet access now but dont want the cable company to knock out my cable.is there some way around this?

If your cable company doesn't have you listed when you sign up they'll probably want to run a line, etc... You might want disconnect and hide the cables going to the TVs if they come.

Otherwise, most cable companies will supply a "self install" kit for you to do it yourself.

They will charge you more for the cable modem since you're not a cable TV subscriber. Usually it's $10/month more.

I used to get free cable, including movie channels when I first got @home. When I moved to my house, I had free basic but not movie channels. When mediacomm bought at&t here, they gave everyone free really basic cable, a few channels and about 15 channels of home shopping. Oh well, I have the dish anyway.
